Topics: religion, Religious, spam, stop
As of now, I am not commenting on religious posts, hopefully they will sink out of existance where they should stay.
Not because of any view, other than people have their own views and shouldnt be continuously challenged.
Would like it if other people did the same.

They go in cycles...a couple of months ago there were so many religious posts that someone commented that they thought this was a Christian website! There was something daft like 12 religious discussions on the first two pages...

The last time there was a serious plague of religithreads we were able to cast them out with plenty of logic, science and humanist ethical doctrines.

I think last time it only stopped when Jaybetee suddenly appeared and started locking all the threads! Where the hell is he now?!

A discussion is a debate, conversation, talk, argument, etc. I think that everyone should have the right to voice there opinions and others have a right to decide whether or not respond. There are various types of discussions on BP such as religion, politics, relationships, and the same old submit your blog here links. I think that the whole point of having a discussion is to make a statement and get an opinion. Should a certain topic be discriminated against, no. If thats the case, how about the topics regarding race and gender discrimination. Those topics definitely get people riled up.

Unfortunately, I think that religion isn't the only type of discussion in which this occurs, SiuilARuin. I think that one of the reasons BC is so popular is that there is an open discussion. I don't agree with everything. Yet, I feel that if there is a "slanging match" thats what we have moderators and a spam button for. If religion offends people, how about discussions about race, or discussions about relationships, or discussions about... I am just saying that where would it begin or end. For the most part, we are all adults. If we see a certain title to a particular discussion, its up to us as to whether to participate in it or not. If you feel that it is going to be a "slanging match", then do not participate in that discussion.

The difference is that religion is a topic that no one ever moves on and the argument continues until someone starts getting personal.
There are lots of people itching for a fight, and there are lots of people who start religious topics that others find offensive, so rather than have the perpetual argument that ends up spilling into other discussions, people should use the Christian groups if they want to talk to other Christians about Christianity, and the debate groups if they want to debate religion with atheists.

I was looking forward to a religious thread coming up, like the atheism one above,
And then raising the Ignore religious posts battleship to the top.
