Whats the catch? I'd like you to click through my avatar visit and review my site on Blog Catalog 
That's all!
If I get too many requests, I will kindly close this offer. But don't be shy, I can handle a bunch!
I'm going to take my time on them, so don't expect a header next day.
Also, I will grant you use-rights only. Meaning, you can use it only on your blogs header and its not 'yours' but I'm giving you permission to use it.
I'm doing this to promote my site and to show Blog Catalog members I care!

Hmm, I'm not sure. I'd like to stick to a music theme as much as possible. I was toying with musical note/headphone images for the site, but I'm not very good with graphic design! Sorry if that's not much help...

I like the font I used, but am open to suggestions. I'm no designer, so I'm open to whatever. Something that would work for business, economics, or personal finance.

Bad news for you. Just as I was getting done with yours my art program crashed and it wouldn't let me save it.

Checking your site now...
Your theme isn't doing much for your and your organization and the way things are presented in the order that they are on your site don't make a lot of sense.
You need to put things like the blogcatalog widget, and 'subscribe to' on the side bar. You need to add 'recent posts' to the sidebar as well. Showing a list of recent posts is one of the best ways to hook a reader to your site longer.
So, I think you need to make those changes, then you can worry about a different header image. I personally think your header isn't doing much for you, I can't make out what its suppose to be... just a design? Try to target your audience with as much blogging-tip related things as possible.
How long have you been blogging?
Also, I see you have an old post called 'patric swayze-pancreatic cancer ' -
I wasn't done commenting... that patric swayze post should not even be in your blog.
You need to focus, pick a different theme or fix the one you have. And then we can talk about changing your header. If you want to blog about helping people blog better, you really can't stray from it.

Do you want a new header? I like the ones you have, but its always good to add colors to the header that go with the rest of your sites theme.
I can make you one that reflects this and not really change how it looks that much. But, by adding colors that are in the site, like red for your win a thing blog and red or blue for your coolbuster blog, i think it will make the headers feel like they 'belong' and make your site come together.

Okay my thoughts..
Get rid of the text header and incorporate those words over the picture.
I think the picture is really nice and visually explains your blog. So other than getting a better quality picture of a path, I say its pretty good.
For yours, I will use the image you have, but overlay 'The Path: A Journey Into The Light' on top of it.
You site doesn't really have much color besides the links... but i'll do some subtle accents.

First thing I notice is you have 2 headers! The text based one up at the top and the bigger graphical image. So i can either design one to fit in the smaller space up at the top or you can keep the small text header and I'll design you a bigger graphic one... the ladder is what I'm assuming you want, I just found it a little odd that you had a header type of thing twice.
Its something to atleast thing about, because your header takes up 50% of the space before the fold on my pc. If you haven't read much about blog design... it's important to get the most important information you want to deliver to your audience above the fold (aka before they have to scroll down).
My suggestions:
I can make the second 'bigger' header smaller in height, but keep the width. Add some nice gradient effect that will go from that light turquoise blue to the darker green-blue you have on your site. Add some drop shadow and play with the font style.
Also, I think it would be nice to fade an image into the background of it. So find an image for me that you think best represents your blog and I'll do it for you.

Yep. Post the link here. Also, make sure it isn't copyrighted. If you have camera, why not take a picture yourself, make it a personal accomplishment to add something of your own to your header

Thanks so much for your input. I agree with your assessment. I really like the header photo I have, for the same reasons you mentioned, but felt there was something missing. It's good to have another affirming opinion. Yes, overlaying the words maybe the key to bringing the whole image into sharper focus. Great Idea! OK, I'm just curious as to what you would do with my header. I don't actually want a new one, and, in fact it took me months to finally decide to make the uber simple change that I did make to it...but I'm curious as to what you would do.

Love the red and black theme you have going and could easily make you a header with that in mind. My thoughts are the words 'Identity' in red text with a black background, and 'check' in black text with a red background. The flipflop of those colors in your header would really pull the site together.
I feel you need an icon/logo (like my rogue silhouette avatar) also. I feel if you branded your site with one, it would help it feel more like a unique place to visit.
Btw, you have Assault spelled wrong in your 3 or 4 post down. It's in the title of the post, so be careful next time
So, think about a logo you'd like if any. Maybe a samurai sword or ninja? If this sounds good, I'll add you to the queue -

After our exchange, I took a third and fourth look at my blog and decided to go with a completely different theme, with just the words as the header! I also discovered that there are several Wordpress themes that will incorporate the words over the picture, if I change my mind (again). So, you can take me out of your queue and give my spot to the next deserving soul in line. Thanks so much for your suggestion; it inspired me to update the look of my blog!

Critique:
Right away I notice you are missing something. Pictures! People love to look at pictures, it makes your articles more engaging and its pretty to look at.
People like to get motivated, and with a topic like working out, people even need more motivation.
I like your theme, but I feel for your topic it may be to dark. You want to set the mood of your reader when they visit your site. You want to make them feel good that they read your posts and that they are proactive about working out.
So the two most important changes I can think of for you is add pictures, pictures, pictures... and consider changing the color scheme to something more cheerful.
You have all the right widgets in place. The recent posts one will draw your audience to read more, and you have a really nice set of useful tools.
Consider using categories if its not 'too late' to change your posts. I see you are using tags, but tags do not replace the use of categories. I'm not saying this is a must, but what if I come to your blog to read one type of post... like a how-to... If you have categories, it makes it easier to find. Just consider it.
I'm not sure I'd use the calendar widget, ask yourself, does it add any value to my site by having it there? Sidebar space is limited, so consider cutting things you don't absolutely need.
I'm a fan of graphical headers, theres a saying that goes 'pictures are louder than word'. So just think about it, and maybe I can design one for you.
Overall your blog is full of useful posts and resources. From a content perspective it is really really good. Just consider the advice I gave and make the changes as you see fit.

Hmm, I am planning on changing my header some time soon. I'd love to work with an illustrator to replace the photo I have with an illustration - I think the current header is too somber, and makes it look a little too much like a personal blog, when it's really directed at other parents. If you had other ideas, I'd love to hear them, though I think I may be shopping around and talking with other people to get their design ideas, too. Did you do all the art for your header? I really like how your guy on the right side shows up other places on the blog.-

Use google to search for blogger.com tips and better themes. I can not make you a new header with your current layout. Your layout has many issues that I've already discussed with you. So, please, try hard to clean up your site.
Search for blogger.com themes or blogspot themes and organize your content better.
I will be glad to make you a header once this is done.

The first feel that i get when i visit your site is uniqueness. the header, support us link, author avatar, post title just every thing a unique blend in it. If the blue lines below the site logo is made to be more glowing then it would be awesome.A true inspirational site for me.Great site mate.

You did a great job with souldrift, it was clean and straight to the point, which seems to add an unpretentious flavor to the image of the blog, unlike many music blogs--they usually have so much going on at once visually it's a brain freeze.
The one you did for WebMoney was much better than the standard text one, so it's certainly an improvement there.
You now have me wanting you to do a test run header for me too, as your ideas and clean, straight-forward design skills are very good and on point. Hat tip to you. -

I'll see what I can do with yours. Music blogs are always a challenge because music is very subjective. Its not as easy as say a hot cup of coffee that has to look nice for a coffee site... music is personal, so these are always a challenge.

You have some interesting content on your blog. A few things I thought of when I visited were: Is this a gamer blog or more of a news/opinion blog? I think it would be classified as the latter, so that being said, you don't need a very fancy layout, and from that stand point, I think you're on the right track.
You make great use of the double sidebar.I think the advertisements are placed well, not too obtrusive, but you know they are there. So good job with that...
A really good design habit that I've taught myself over the years is the 2 color rule. I think sites look best when there are at least 2 dominate colors involved with the layout. Links don't really count toward this goal if they are the only other color you have on the site. The two colors need to be present within major objects of your site, like your post titles, header, link color, and sidebar.
Two Suggestions:
1)Change the color of your post titles
2) Change the background color of your widget titles
If you modified your theme just a little, and choose another color to bring into the mix, I think this would make it more personal. Sometimes the smallest changes can have a big effect on the over all appearance of your site.
I do think a graphical header would really help out your blog. Since your blogs style is more 'grown-up' in its appearance, you do not have a lot of places to express yourself. The header always gives room to do that, so just think about it.

Your blog has some serious potential. Here's my critique.
1) Bring your content above the fold.
You can do this easily by scaling the pictures you use on your posts and using the html img tag align=left or right property. This will do two things for you. It's good to have pictures in your posts, but they don't need to be the original or full size. The align left or right property will make your posts text flow aside the picture. Readers of your blog will be happier if they get the 'meat' of your posts without having to scroll down.
2) Your picture.
Your profile picture is all the way at the bottom of the blog. To instantly make your blog more personal, I'd suggest moving that to the top of the left sidebar. I want to see your face as soon as I come to your site. It helps assure that this is a personal blog and maybe worth reading! In fact, looking at it again, all those banners that are at the bottom of your blog belong on a sidebar because of their shape, not down there. If you want to keep some banners at the bottom of the blog like that, find ones that are long horizontally.
3)2 Color rule.
As I mentioned to Brad above this post. The 2 color rule still holds true with your blog. I feel that you can really 'warm up' your readers if you pick a unique but eye pleasing post title color.
4) Header.
Your text-based header is better than most I've seen, but it doesn't 'bring your blog together'. To gain 'synergy' with the rest of your site, they should share colors with the rest of your content. Ask yourself, is it the blue from the background of the header that needs to come into the content more somehow? Or the green-blue/red from the links that should make its way into the header background?
Suggestions:
- Play with other themes until you find one that has colors that fit your personality and blog
- Practice the 2-color rule. A study showed that we remember things better if they are in color!
- Use the 2 color rule make your header and content come together.

All I have to say is WOW. I am impressed at your pictures! You have some serious talent. If I do a header for you, I'd want to use one/some of your photos.
message me or email me with some photos for me to use if u'd like.
Critique:
1) Header. You DEFINITELY should have a graphical header. Your photos engaged me instantly on your site, why not use that in the header to entice people to stay and read what you have to say! You have talent, the header is the first thing people see. This is an obvious must in my opinion
2) Sidebar. Move your profile up to the top on the sidebar. Remember... the sooner people feel 'personal' the better chance you have of them staying on your site. Move your ads more to the middle of the side or the bottom. Keep the feedburner subscribe 2nd, right under your profile. I'd get rid of the 'google custom search' completely. If I wanted to search google, I'd be at googles site. I'm not. I'm on your site!
3) Consider using a 100% width theme. Since your pictures are so big, I have to scroll down to see what you have to say about them... maybe it would be better if the text ran along the side of them? I'm not 100% sure on this one, but it's worth a try. This will help you deliver more content above the fold.
4) I love your link colors they are colorful but not blinding. Great choice there.
Overall your blog is almost as good as it can get. Change the sidebar around and get a graphical header in there and I think you'll be golden.

Try this out for starters

Maybe we can get away without changing the post title color. It will depend on the header I make you.

Hi Eric, I just wanted to thank you. My blog is a three column one when I was looking at it but then it hit me maybe you would be using Firefox which I dont. So I downloaded it and saw that everything in my third column was sitting down the bottom of the page. So I deleted You Tube videos and now its back to 3 columns again. As for your other suggestions, you are so right. I need to hink about another header. It used to be pink and I changed it to blue. I will let you know. I do, and I have good pictures of her in glasses, in fact the header is a picture of her now, but I actually want to move away from it being a picture of her, so it doesn't look so much like a personal blog. I have a lot of other contributors to the blog, and I guess I'm hoping to make it more generalized, if that makes sense (I also have thoughts of making t-shirts and kids shirts through something like cafepress, and I'd like to use a logo or illustration of a kid in glasses, not my daughter's picture).

I could be interested in a header redesign. I am a software engineer/programmer sort of guy, but I designed the header on www.projectswole.com myself. I don't think it's bad, but I feel that the whole site could stand to undergo a full change of layout. Project Swole 3.0 perhaps.
I'm about to roll out some serious eBooks, an interactive fitness program, a revolutionary diet plan, and at least 2 companion websites, so now would probably be the time to toss a full redesign at Project Swole.
If it all works out, I'll promote you for sure.-

I think you could use an icon type of navigation menu. Your blog is lacking images. I think thats its main weakness. A navigation menu or category menu will help guide your readers to more content.
Use a 'recent posts' widget to help list in a short space your newest posts.
Put pictures in each of yours posts. Make sure they are not too big.
I can eventually make you nice header but you have plenty to work on. Just add things to your sidebar that will interest your readers and add depth to your site.

Ill have to check it out in a few hours. For the quick look that I took it does look rather colorless. Try adding more pictures in your posts and remove some of your advertisements it really slows down your page.

If I can offer a suggestion on the ads... affiliate programs are great. Pick one or two that pay out really well and use them tastefully on your site. P.K. is so right that your site is overpowered as it is right now.

I actually got through the whole thread (which is weird since I normally have the attention span of a goldfish) and I find your feedback to be very complete, relevant and helpful.
You also design really cool headers, by the way.
But this is not the reason for my butting in this here thread...
I realize you're busy, but if you get a chance, if and when you can, would you be kind enough to take a look at that dysfunctional mess that I call my blog, and point out what's most blatantly wrong with it? (besides the fact that I only update it once in a blue moon...)
I'd appreciate it a lot. Then after that, we could all have a laugh at my expense.

Wow Eric, you must be killing your time by doing all of these headers.
I feel really bad for asking, but my blog has no header, and I'm really tempted to ask you to design one if you have the time. So yeah, if you do find any time at all, it would be extremely nice if you could whip one up.
