I'm looking to hire up to 5 permanent writers, and a variety of occasional and part-time writers - for my PetLvr blog.

If you are interested ... send me an application!
PetLvr.com/blog/writers/applications

It's a paid gig - based on word count and number of posts per month. I'm hoping to get about 80-90 extra posts in a month from a wide assortment of writers and blogging styles - about Pet Related topics.

I'd be interested in hearing your opinions of my offer and topics that I've mapped out. I hope I am being fair with my offer of remuneration. I know it's not a lot, but it's not a little in my books and paypal account. Hopefully, longer term ventures could result with the successful applicants.

Take care
HART aka PetLvr

how much are you paying? let's say for articles that are around 400 words long. i think i can refer a few of my friends.
    1. PetLvr
      Details are on this page:
      www.petlvr.com/blog/writers/wanted/

      Specifically from that page:
      Remuneration

If selected, the applicant(s) will have access to the PetLvr blog and write drafts for review and submission. HART may request further clarification or modifications, but after that .. HART will publish the writers’ posts on the PetLvr blog (or related sister “LVR” series of blogs). For every post selected, and published:

      * If over 1,000 words - $15.00 per post
      * If between 500-999 words - $10.00 per post
      * If between 300-499 words - $5.00 per post

      * If 299 words or less - and your post is selected, the post will be designated as a “Guest Authored” post, and you will be allowed to place a ‘resourceful-type’ link and description at the bottom of the post to refer readers to your own blog or website (no affiliated links) and there will be no remuneration fee paid.
    2. PetLvr
That last part is to encourage at least 300 word posts .. I want to pay everybody who contributes! But, a few pictures or YouTube won't cut it - at least it's not what I'm looking for.

Not really interested in taking on a paid writing gig.

But here's a funny post about my dog

    ekim-randomramblings.blogspot.com/2007/12/in-dogs-mind.html
    1. PetLvr
Yes .. that didn't help me one bit, however .. that was a funny post! Our Sophie (second papillon) is the same way. Scavengers of the Earth .. but Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me if a few kibbles roll out of their dish next to the water bowl ..
    2. ekim941
Yep. I don't know what the dogs are thinking.
If I drop a hot dog on the floor he'd be all on it
    3. Webloggr
Nice diversion. How in Pete's sake did a hiring discussion turned about someone's dog?

      Now that's funny. =D

It just goes to show that you do not need to be a so-called "expert" when it comes to animals, and writing about them!

On the job description page, www.petlvr.com/blog/writers/wanted/ .. I would probably classify that post related to item (2) instead of none-of-the-above, and would classify it as just another "PetLvr Story" category if it was ever published in my blog. These type of posts have their place.

I have about 50 or so IT students at the moment, I'll ask them tomorrow. Some have great skills, I'm not sure who are the Pet Lovers
    1. PetLvr
As long as they have Paypal accounts, and thinking long-term, opposed to .. as "Homework For Mr A. Guitarist" until summer break.. sure! All applications will be looked at and reviewed carefully.

Oh no...not thinking homework at all. There's some great skills amongst them all. A number of them have run their own businesses, none are kids, all adults. I wouldn't recommend anyone that I wouldn't employ myself.
i'll check out the job description carefully before I'd even consider talking to anyone.

I'm serious when it comes to business but prety silly about everything else apart from music.

what kind of articles you prefer?
    1. PetLvr
      PetLvr.com/blog/writers/wanted/ ..

The tagline for my website is ..
“A Website For All Earthlings, Who Love Animals”

I'm looking for writers who can provide articles that appeal to a wide audience of people who are pet lovers, and that want pets to have a better life, and our own lives are improved by having pets in it as well. I do get a lot of search engine traffic (92%) and pet lovers usually find my site while looking for information about a specific topic.

I do not want another IcanHasCheeseburger type or dogster type or funepets or petside or kittenwars or other sites that already exist because they already exist! Although, I wouldn't mind having a bit of everything including what I just mentioned.

Once successful applicants are hired, I will be encouraging them to keep logging in and writing draft articles submit for review. I will be doing the final selection and publishing of the many articles so that it appears and is posted in a well rounded way in my blog. E.G. I don't want a week of horse events, or just dog articles, or breed information, but will spread it around so the reader never knows what is coming up next, be it a dog related story, hedgehog story, bunny rabbit story, grooming story, or pet food recall story, etc.

Pets, does that mean only cats and dogs?
    How about turtles?
    1. PetLvr
PetLvr is for all pets - including turtles! So, that would include training, health, food and treats, grooming turtles and hmm.,. is there agilty and turtle race events out there? Any pet related topic will work.

However - DogLvr.com .. CatLvr.com .. HorseLvr.com etc (click top of the PetLvr page links) .. is for breed specific information only. Are you looking to buy a dog and want to know all about a Beagle? That's where you go. Same if you are looking for Angel Fish, a Siamese Cat, or even Parrots. If you are wondering what breeds work best out in the rural country, or whether or not to have a freshwater fish tank or saltwater fish tank - that would be on PetLvr site.
    2. melisasriwulandari
well, i have turtles, some of them have been around for 10 years, some 2 years. but they're mostly just left alone on their own though, so i guess i'm no expert. i got some pictures of them if you want to see though.
      cheers...

just wondering, how often do you want them(us) to write? i mean, is it okay if we just write once in a while or is it necessary to submit a post a week or monthly.
    3. PetLvr
On the application, there is #11 asking you how many times you would expect or want to post each week, month, etc.

For me - I'm looking to add an extra 80-90 posts per month. If that means adding 5 new writers, it is less administrative work for me -paypal- wise etc. But, if it turns out after reviewing all of the applications that I will need to hire 20 writers with lesser quantities of posts by each, to make a better reader experience and well rounded site - I will do that. However, for the part-timer's .. I would probably expect the larger and in-depth posts that are more than 1000 words if you plan to write once a week, or once every two weeks etc.
  7. PetLvr
Keep asking questions, if it helps clarify the position better! My motto is "it never hurts to ask".

Sometimes, I see everything clearly in my mind's eye - but, hard to put my vision into words or into writing and job descriptions

If I may make a suggestion .. if you are a reader, and a pet lover .. what would you want to read about? Go to PetLvr.com/blog/ and try the global search in the left sidebar and do a search. // Did you find what you were looking for? Could you do better to fill the gaps?
  8. acousticguitarist
    Ok.

Are you looking for people with pretty much the same skillset are are you looking for diversity?
    1. PetLvr
Time will tell I'm looking. I suppose we'll see what I come up with!

I do want to be able to cover as much as the topics shown in the categories of my archives PetLvr.com/blog/archives/ ..

I would say YES to diversity but NO to the same skillset.
  9. vandanarajesh
Would be interested in the opportunity. Although I do not have a pet related blog , I have been doing pet articles related to dogs, felines. birds and also fishes for clients. Sorry cannot provide any samples as they are already submitted and accepted by the client. Currently run other blogs on a hobby basis and also freelance as a content writer.

I applied and chose one position, but really I could write about anything except the health stuff. I have no formal training, so I wouldn't feel qualified to recommend health products or anything, but every other area I can do. I have experience with everything from dogs and cats to spiders and snakes.
    1. PetLvr
Thanks. I left her a private message .. This could be a good work at home opportunity to be listed at her site. And, I'm not making any choices until next week.

UPDATE: AS OF MAY 27, 2008

I received 96 applications in total. I have offered positions to 5 applicants and have received final acceptance on the last offer this morning.

So - officially - I am no longer hiring or looking for writers on the PetLvr blog.

I will be sending thank-you letters to everybody before the end of this week is out. Whew! It was a tiring process.

    THANKS TO EVERYBODY WHO APPLIED!
