I visited the State of Goa this year and found the place to be fantastic. After recently reading about the exploration America's west in search of a Pacific route I had great empathy with the astonishment of the explorers at the sights they saw. India is a massive country and the waterfalls and wild life are awesome.

We saw elephants and monkeys. We bathed the elephants and watched them play in the river. We swam in pools below ice cold waterfalls that were over a 1000ft high. We also hand fed wild monkeys. A fantastic experience.

The people of India were welcoming and at no time did I feel unwelcome. They know how to drive a bargain and make a friend.

I recommend a visit.

Not the best place to call on the telephone... beats Baltimore though.

India is great and still gives bloody good interest through the iccici bank. But I'm tooo scared to put money in it.
  3. Agit8r
ICICI? That's cause they charge such usurous loan rates. No need to worry about investing money I should think. The solidarity groups take care of non-repayment.

The travel will require plentiful of antibiotic prophlaxis for Cholera, Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter and Malaria.

India definitely needs more positive testimonials like this..

@dsriharsha, I love India. Street candid photography is so much fun there. The curry and all the street vendor food are incredible.

But I had an episode of acute heptatitis A from the local food... That was a very unforgetible experience...

    Dear all

Traveling to India is a long journey but worth the discomfort. Depending on where you visit in India depends on what injections/shots you require. I read the newspapers before I went to check on local news. I recommend this as a tip to anyone going abroad.

There was lots of interesting information about the legal system and local politics.

if you enjoyed posting on this thread i would appreciate if you would have alok at my blog. Regards Bernie

I've been there before and loved it. I stayed in the north in the Himalayas for three months before going on to Nepal. I did not like Delhi very much and traveling is hard...very hard lol. By far the hardest trip I did was the Manali to Leh trip which takes two days on the coach. The views are stunning but its a scary ride. I had a sit at the back of the bus, big mistake!! hahaha

i would absolutely love to visit india... on of my best friends is indian, and is always trying to organize a trip for all of us to visit her hometown... it never works out because of school or work and i'm always so disappointed.

everything she brings back (stories, photos, textiles, jewelry) is always so rich and beautiful!

I've only been once. My father is Indian, my mother American.

Beautiful, sacred, enchanting....it will put you in a trance....

And then you'll wake with a start from all the honking cars and the wild pace.

I miss it and hope to go back someday.
