India To Launch Cow Urine as a Soft Drink...

Does your Pepsi lack pep? Is your Coke not the real thing? India's Hindu nationalist movement apparently has the answer: a new soft drink made from cow urine.
The bovine brew is in the final stages of development by the Cow Protection Department of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), India's biggest and oldest Hindu nationalist group, according to the man who makes it.
Om Prakash, the head of the department, said the drink – called "gau jal", or "cow water" – in Sanskrit was undergoing laboratory tests and would be launched "very soon, maybe by the end of this year".
"Don't worry, it won't smell like urine and will be tasty too," he told The Times from his headquarters in Hardwar, one of four holy cities on the River Ganges. "Its USP will be that it's going to be very healthy. It won't be like carbonated drinks and would be devoid of any toxins."

That's exactly what I was thinking, I would either have to be dying of thirst and there is a mass shortage of water or totally out my mind to want to drink it.
This reminds me of that sucky movie Kevin Costner made called Waterworld.
I mean notice he is in the ocean and not distilling the ocean water but prefers to distill his own piss to ocean water. I mean really is mankind progressing here?

You bring up a good point...Back in the day of the family farms cows were at least treated in a somewhat humane manner compared to the cruelty of todays mega dairy farms...Bears are tortured in China to produce Bear Bile..

people should not comment on any issue without understanding the reason behind it.It has been proved that cow urine has medicinal properties. Westerns call themselves the pioneers of scientific studies , then why do they make any stupid comments? just because of the hatred against Hinduism.They don't believe the fact that Jesus had a wife and children, but they believe in any person who doesn't even know a word of Hinduism or in a person who never even tried to understand HInduism.

Just because a person thinks it is a bit odd to drink cow urine does not mean that they hate Hindus or Hinduism...
If it turns there are useful medicinal properties in cow urine this would be great for dairy farms all over the planet... -
If anyone finds drinking cow urine odd then he/or she can try to find the reason behind it or just go deep into the matter and clarify their doubts.But that person should not make fun of any religion or hurt anyone's feelings, without understanding the purpose behind it.

Let me make it simple: About the cow urine thing, irrespective of who takes the initiative to manufacture it (Hindus or Muslims)the so called 'refreshment' that some of us are in attempt to produce is 'urine' afterall.If people think it is somewhat gross,it is very natural...it could be taken as a biological offence rather than a religious one..

Its not a religious practice. Cow's are sacred in hindu mythology.
I live in India and I havent heard of this at all. And i'm sure the RSS would never do something like that. They're hardline Hindu fanatics ... they'd know better than to do something like this.
I'm pretty sure this was all a joke. Abhinav ... you should take it in the same light. But if you feel like this is a bit extreme then you can go ahead and protest ...

I am from India. Amazed to learn about this urine stuff. According to the "veda"s, cow urine has medical benefits and kill germs as @ernestlobo mentioned through a link. Question is, if that substance is being used as soft drink or an ingredient of the drink, it will be clearly mentioned on the packaging. It it must be very clearly visible.
I shall just avoid that, when I find that "urine" inside the soft drink. Certainly... lol -
i wish they'd make it into a carbonated drink so i can shake it up and squirt it all over someone here...a certain urine-colored picture; come to think of it, maybe someone's already done it. hahahaha. -
