In the closing month of 1982 my father was picked up, poisoned, strangled, murdered, dismembered and boiled by British serial killer Dennis Nilsen.
Come across to my blog to read full history...
Best Wishes, Shane.

Due to complete & utter boredom I'm going to have a conversation with myself... hope no-one minds?
heroinhead... any problem with that? -
No problem! i'd be glad of the company...
What would you like to talk about? High-brow, Low-brow or know-how? -
Sorry to interrupt, most folks on here (the noisy ones) are probably sleeping now.
I am off to do my obligatory miles in a lazy arsed attempt at getting fit, but will be back later.
Continue conversation. -
That was a great piece, myheroinhead. I know you are new here and there's a discussion feature called 'Shameless Blog Promotion' and this might have been a good one to put out there.
You can also create a broadcast (go to your dashboard and you will see a tab called 'broadcasts' and if you click on that, it will take you to all the recent ones--look to the right of the screen to see 'create a new broadcast'). This sends out a broadcast that you have a new post to all your friends.
I really enjoyed that piece!

Was just reading your blog, very interesting stuff.
Have you read the book Killing for company and if so what are your thoughts on it.-
My feelings on Nilsen? I hold no ill will towards him... he has problems like many of us do. I do not like to see people incarcerated. His release would hurt my mother terribly - so I am torn between these two things. Also, we have to consider if Nilsen is able to repeat his crimes? He has served his 25 year sentence and so he is able to be released. His fate hangs with the courts and politicians. I've exchanged letters with him, but stopped through fear that my mother would find out. She's been through enough..

Was it you or him that initiated the contact? Did he express any remorse to you?
From what I have read of him he seems to be a very intelligent, but extremely vain, man that is as puzzled by his crimes as we are.
I don't think they will ever let him out and to tell you the truth I don't think he should be let out. -
I initiated contact. He had been a part of my life and thoughts for so long that I wanted to have some contact.
Yes, he is very intellligent, but I think the vanity is a myth that runs throughout the press and media to knock him a little. At least I never got that impression from him... one does leave Killing for Company with that impression though.
Yes he apologised, but I let him know that wasn't why I sought him. I wasn't hunting his remorse... it means nothing really.
I agree with you, he will never be released. -
I can see why you would want contact with him. He must have loomed over your life like a huge black shadow. Especially with the way the media sensationalise these killers as some sort of super human villains, when in reality they are very sad and twisted little men.
Was it cathartic for you? Did it sort of exorcise him from your day to day thoughts? -
Cathartic... it wasn't really what I was looking for. I don't break life down into events or tragedies that need resolving. The history with Nilsen was one of the many events that have gone into making my life. My reason for contacting him was the same as how I would contact someone that is following my blog and has interested me. My thoughts are very complicated on this matter and it is very difficult to give a comprehensible explanation in a comment. Excuse me.

I must say I really enjoyed the conversation you had here with yourself (so much so that I'm going to check out your blog now
). -
I just visited your blog and read your entry about your father. Completely horrifying.
My father is in prison for life for three counts of murder. He went to prison when I was eight. It destroyed my mother who never really recovered from it. It destroyed me and set me up for a lifetime of self-hatred.
I don't have a heroin addiction, but I have been struggling with bulimia and food addiction for over 15 years. Believe me when I tell you that my demons (while very different from yours) come from the same place. -
What interesting reading... And I haven't even hit your blog yet. LOLOLOLOLOL!
Cool - keep it up - and I'll stop by for a moment - but do me a favor ---get more than FOUR hours - grab some Ambien or something.
LOL!
Have a great writing fest!
