Interactive versus Traffic Social Networks

I've discovered that I differentiate social networking groups into interactive versus traffic networks.
I think of Twitter (microblogging), Fuelmyblog (a forum and thumbnail network), and Blogcatalog as a form of interactive network. You talk to people and interact to gain more traffic.
I consider Technorati (a news and ranking network), Entrecard (a shared business card), and Stumbleupon (a form of recommendation system) to be primarily concerned with traffic and recommendations. The objective is to create popularity.
I think I prefer the networks focused on interacting with other bloggers. Traffic may not be as high, but loyalty is much higher. Some people prefer traffic networks.

Yeah I don't know about how you divided them up like that. Entrecard is more just shit but whatever.
You are right about twitter, FMB, BC, and other social networking type sites require more relationship building than just broadcasting. But the same can be said about stumbleupon and entrecard to a point.
It is all about creating the right mix of how you use social media. The visitors I get from stumbleupon stay a good amount of time on my site so I consider it a valuable source and spend time leveraging it. Twitter is also the same and I have built up a large profile on there because of it. -
For me Stumblers mostly just stumble through, though sometimes there are an awful lot of them. I have gotten some results from Entrecard but I am cutting way back on my drops and see them being less and less a part of my traffic going forward. I am focusing on linking to other quality book bloggers and forming traffic and advertising relationships through CMF Direct (www.ec-ads.com/direct/). Technorati never did anything for me. I still get some traffic from BC, too.
