When "New Global Order" is tossed around like that - people like me get a knot in their stomach.
    1. Sylvia
I recall Papa Bush talking about a new world order back when he was president too.
    2. Anok
Yep - specifically in a speech on *drumroll please*

      September 11, 1990.

right before he launched into the middle east.
    3. rfburnhertz
I'm about as opposite you as I could hope to be, and I also get a knot in my stomach. This is not, by the way, the first mention by Brown since becoming PM.

Sarkozy has thrown the phrase about in recent months as well.

It's a 'fear' that has been around for generations. A task that has been mostly an impossibility for all of history, until our modern day. A Global Order or New World Order could be accomplished fairly easy now.

Let's be honest, a NWO would simply regulate the majority of the world to some kind of neo-serfdom while a select few would be among the elite.

Some think a NWO would bring liberty and equality to all when all it would really do is remove liberty and equality from those who now enjoy it and assure the that the rest never have a chance to know either liberty or equality.
    4. Anok
rf, for once we agree. Which is rare, if memory serves correct.

So that must be how you know it's a bad idea
  2. Sylvia
They said a new "World Order" has been happening in the shadows for many years, could this be the time we see all the so called wacky conspiracy theorists actually be right?
    1. Anok
It's only a theory if it isn't happening....
    2. Sylvia
I'm going back to creating commercials, I'm starting feel a knot in my stomach too
    3. Anok
      It's OK Sylvia - You're in Canada!
    4. Sylvia
      thanks for reminding me
    5. rfburnhertz
I believe it has been in the works for decades.

I admit to believing it in part due to my theology, but I can believe it just based upon observing the world we have lived in and the world we currently live in.

It is unavoidable, it will happen sooner or later.
  3. csiunatc
Has anyone seen the "New world order Soldier" videos on youtube? Kinda cheesy but pretty scary at the same time.

    here's one.

Uhm...is he for real, or is it a spoof?
    2. Sylvia
He sounds like some of the guys who have been talking about the "Amero" the new North American currency..... oh god what am I saying....
hurry Sylvia..... back to the igloo
    3. csiunatc
No i think its something like a "sci-fi" rendition of how he sees the "New world order" possibilities put into place by Bush and the patriot act etc.
    4. siralmo
      this guy is insane
    5. Anok
OK, so he's play acting to make his point?

Because it wasn't what he was saying - but the actual person that really freaked me out.
    6. siralmo
@sylvia i have heard of this amero.. this will be interesting if it all goes down like that
    7. Sylvia
Interesting times we live in to say the least.
  4. Sylvia
You guys might like this one.

They have been calling for the New World Order and this guy put all the quotes in a pretty cool video

Anok make sure you watch 2:24
    1. acousticguitarist
interesting, not that I'd know anything about this stuff. I'm just a dumb guitar player
  5. AlexGreat
We need world order and it may as well be new and better because the old one stinks. I don't understand why so many people get freaked about it. If not for new ways to do things we would still linger under the palms waiting for the banana to fall in our paws which on second thought isn't that bad at all
    1. rfburnhertz
Because I would rather that I were in charge of my daily life and not some global governmental organization.
    2. harveyavatar
Well this all depends if the new order is just the old order, but more centralized. Also many of the problems seem to have been created by those who are proposing the solutions - which would make it a Hegelian dialetic.

Actually, all this aside, geopoliticians point out that a country or regional power which is multi-religious and/or multi-ethnic (ex: ex Yougoslavia, Irak, Soviet Union) must be governed with a hand of steel for things to stick. Evidently, it would be even more difficult on a planetary scale.

This is for me one good reason to be against a world government (which is actually what is being aimed at - frankly I don't know how "realistic" this aim is).
    3. Anok
Why? Because setting the stage for an easy global dictatorship is a bad idea, perhaps?

      Just a thought....
  6. rfburnhertz
All the videos linked to in this thread are a mix of crazy and sanity.

The cat with the camo paint is surely sliding off his rocker a taste.
He must have lost his mind when GWB left office as he seemed to believe GWB was going to refuse to leave office based upon a national emergency.
    1. siralmo
that's because conspiracy is born out of paranoia, no matter how factual it may be
  7. duniyah
lol - based on a few comments from Brown about greater cooperation and less protectionism people have jumped to conspiracy theories about a New World Order. How hilariously lame.
    1. rfburnhertz
It is not as though Brown is the only person of power/importance/influence to as of recent be saying such things.

It's not as though the current happeinings in the world are not aiding to a situation where a NWO could fairly easily be made to happen.

Of course none of this means that such a thing is going to take place, but there is a willingness among persons in power to at least give consideration to a NWO and the pieces are mostly in place if enough person in power choose to make such a thing come about.
  8. harveyavatar
    are you a coincidence theorist?
    1. harveyavatar
      no, Coustic
  9. Arnous81
NWO and The Illuminai do exist. But their existance is the only thing Im sure about. All other details are not proven by facts and there are too many contradicting views and opinions.Truth is, nobody knows sh*t.
  10. harveyavatar
Agreed Arnous. It is mostly a lot of truths mixed with some disinfo (or half-truths)and or scaremongering, which gives the soup a bad taste.
  11. MylissaAriana
Um, I loathe Brown with a passion (although not as much as I loathe Blair), but I really don't think he is advocating a centrally controlled new world order.

I think what he does believe is that self-regulation has not worked for the financial world (as evidenced by the disastrous position our banks etc are in). If what he's suggesting is making a change to that system, I'm all for it. People have been too free with money that wasn't theirs in the first place - not just the banks and the investment bankers, but all the people that thought they could get something for nothing and took out huge loans they couldnt afford.
If changing that is a 'new world order' then yes please!
    1. duniyah
I thought Brown would be better than Blair, but so far he has been a huge disappointment. Self-regulation has failed - but lets not forget Brown was at the helm of the economy and had ample time to regulate the excessive credit build up. Now we are in a situation where the tax payer will pay for the excesses of easy credit from the last decade.
    2. acousticguitarist
      Did you rad the article?
  12. harveyavatar
    M,
The financial excesses are due to the debt based money system, in which all money is debt, put in place by privately held central banks. Anything less than giving the power to coin money back to the government would be illusory. I mentionned this here.

    www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/black-swans-and-the-financial-crisis
    1. MylissaAriana
Harvey, I agree that that would probably be the best way of sorting this out - the debt system obviously doesn't work.
Encouraging young people to take out 'easy loans' is, in my opinion, criminal and I only wish there could be some form of punishment for the people who have (most recently) created/worsened this mess.

duniyah - believe me, I don't think Brown should come out of this smelling of roses. as chancellor, he should have known/probably did know about this years ago.
unfortunately for the next general election, the alternatives aren't looking all that better. I'm almost considering voting Monster Raving Loony. Or Green. not sure which would be more of a 'wasted' vote

A major Australian newspaper also had a headline that the Australian Prime Minister announced the New World Order is here. However, when I read the article it did not mention the NWO, but the article did lay out a number of things that could reflect the idea.
    1. LynneaUrania
So just what IS this new world order this time? I'd like to see what is supposed to be "here."

Sounds like the same old byword, but what that article describes sounds more like disorder than order.
    2. acousticguitarist
      it's different article
  14. AlexGreat
Hey isn't the US multi-religious and multi-ethnic but is otherwise OK. You can only be in charge of your own fate if you work towards it. It's not the government that gives you freedom you have freedom as a birth right but have to work constantly for it.
Generally I believe that there should be no difference between the US government and a World government like there is no much difference between the government of California and the US government though their is a difference between the Governor of California and the President of the US.
A proper government is essential for prosperity. The only proper government is a democratic government so the only legitimate world government is the one that helps us preserve and further our rights to life and the pursuit of happiness and if not we bring it down and forge another that will do that. I don't see any problem here. Tell me if I am wrong?
    1. LynneaUrania
I can't tell if you're right or wrong about that in context of "Novus Ordo Saeclorum" because I have yet to see what this "new order of the world" is supposed to be. All I really know is what the order is now and that it isn't what most people had envisioned.

I'm at a complete loss of how to order the world. It isn't like ordering the world of myself, even if I die trying.
    2. AlexGreat
I guess no one is really happy with this world order but that's what we created.
It's not perfect and it's up to us to fix it.
It is likely that while fixing it we won't get it quite right again and will find things that need improvement. That's OK. Actually that's what makes us human. Finding fault and making life better all the time
No one knows what the future holds for us but it's up to us to steer it in the direction we want it to go.
    3. harveyavatar
      AG,

Just so you know the reference, that was from retired general Pierre-Marie Gallois, father of the French nuclear program and reknowed geopolitician.

Police in the US do carry a big stick, and isnt close to 1 per cent of the population in jail, with death penalty in many states, 3 strikes and your out policy, etc. etc.

I'm sure you have quite valid points, however I don't have time for this discussion now
    4. AlexGreat
Now I see what the whole point is that the French could grab the world leadership and that's really scary because then we all will have to learn French and that's unthinkable. But you shouldn't worry because:
      1. You can count on the French to screw things up sooner or later
      2. We won't let them rule because we won't learn French so we wouldn't obey any orders even if we want to because we wouldn't understand them.
      3. I am a French secret agent just pulling your leg so you'll neglect your vigilance and let me turn the mighty US into just another obedient member of the bureaucratic EU

This reminds me of the following joke:

Heaven is a place where the police are English; the chefs are Italian; the car mechanics are German; the lovers are French and it's all organized by the Swiss.

Hell is a place where the police are German; the chefs are English; the car mechanics are French; the lovers are Swiss and it's all organized by the Italians.
    1. AlexGreat
      I love that
still the French are on to it:

Land of cheeses and... labels... full of Cartesians... yuk

    actually, that's good to see.

Correction, heaven should be with French chefs and Italian lovers
    1. AlexGreat
I prefer pizza and Italian-American ice-cream. And it is French kiss not Italian.
