ever since I started my blog, i noticed that the most amount of visitors are from my own country. I do have some visitors from other country but not many.

the big question here is, how do I get international traffic for my blog instead of just my home country?

I am trying to do the same.. I have one follower in Kenya and a guy from India who comments now and then. I joined here in hopes that I might get more readership.

My blog is on African development and policy ideas..

I'm not sure you can really have much control over that .. Just keep promoting your blog @ all the popular places and hope for the best.

Have you joined Twitter,Digg,Technorati or any of the other blogger promo sites yet?

    best of luck,

I think you are doing what you need to do by participating here. I get quite a few international visits to my blog when I'm active on the BC discussions. I wish you the best of luck!

I get tons of international traffic from all over the place! I have no idea how except that they are googling information on Jamaica.

Try joining LinkedIn Groups relevant to your blog topics and posting your blogs as news articles.

Most of my traffic, probably 55% is US. The rest from all over. A lot from Canada.

One of the things that will draw international readers is original content--good, and lots of it. Search engines seem to like variety--even if it is focused on a particular subject.

Most of mine are from Armenia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Mongolia.

      (1) Have you considered installing a translation widget/gadget?
      translate.google.com/translate_tools
      googletranslategadget.blogspot.com/

      (2) Perhaps joining forums and or online niche groups where a diverse international membership is in evidence is also a means of promoting your blogs to readers residing in other countries.

      (3) Also posting comments on related blogs created by bloggers in other countries may help you promote your blog among those readers.

OMG mine is the opposite. i get traffic from Europe and the United states. Most of those who leave comments are from the united states and canada. It would be nice to be noticed locally.

Have you located any unrelated "local" blogs? Maybe you could work something out with the bloggers by agreeing to place a unpaid small ad for each other in the sidebars of your respective blogs.

see if there's a local blog directory, if not start one

My blog is very country-oriented so I was not expecting a lot of international traffic. However 70% of my traffic ended coming from the US and Canada probably because of the huge amount of our nationals living there. Traffic coming from my own country only accounts for about 5%. Since it is a video blog and the videos are mostly non English videos, I've started implementing English subtitles on some.
