Trend Micro just lost the contract for some US Agencies, (will not say which ones) but since they were government agencies you know it was a bad decision, I will have to check Trend Micro out now.

Avast! The home edition is free at www.avast.com

I have the "pro" version (which is no different really except I can control the settings all remotely) on 165 machines around the world for my company. Before we switched from Symantec/Norton to Avast I was dealing with viruses that got past Norton every few months on at least one or two machines.

Since switching to Avast! I have had ZERO virus issues to deal with and many of the older machines that ran slooooooowwwwwwwly with Norton AV suddenly got much faster when it was uninstalled and replaced with Avast.

    Robin,
Have you tried free versions of anti-virus/anti-spyware like AVG or Spybot? I have found that they work just as well when compared to paid versions. In fact, 90% of my PC needs from computer security, word processing to office productivity tools are met with open-source or freeware. Here is an old article in one of my blogs (abt open-source and free software) on the various options of freeware for protecting your PC :

Hope you find the info useful.
