I was thinking of republishing some old books by Silvio Gesell, Thomas Hodgskin, John Francis Bray, Esther Lowenthal, GDH Cole, Thomas Skidmore, William Morris or someone. But I'm not very savvy about this new internet publishing lark. Anybody know the low down?

(On a related note, if there are any old books on philosophy, politics or economics you'd be interested in seeing re-published, cough 'em up!)

Exactly, I like books much better than computer print. Thats why I want to republish classics I can now only read on the internet!

I'm totally ignorant, though I suppose as a starting point you have to know if the darn things are copyrighted. They are if they're less than 70 years old. They might be even after that if their heirs renewed the copyright.

My gram has a book. If you copy a book you need to ask permission regardless or in todays day and age it can be a lawsuit. If their are no known heirs it's a free for all.

That's a good idea. Public domain online publishing.

I love finding public domain works of literature online. Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page) is a pretty good example.
