My best friend in Iran, a doctor who showed me its beautiful culture when I visited Teheran in 2000, who fought a war in the name of the Islamic Republic (against Iraq), who took care of wounded soldiers in the frontline, who always stood by real human values, is seen here trying to resuscitate Neda - hit in her heart.

Left a comment in the blog, but forgot to ask what your doctor friend thinks about it, and the protests in general.

Thank goodness he made it to London and away from that chaos.

There was nothing he or anyone else could do to save Neda. It was a fatal shot, and dying as a result of it was inevitable. Your friend shouldn't feel that he failed to save her, but rather that he did all he could and all that was possible at the moment, facing the inevitable.

I can see why some commenters were concerned about you revealing his name to the world, but I think you handled it well even by asking for confirmation and waiting for him to arrive in London before making that new post (but I'm still confused about the CNN thing). No place is completely safe, of course, but I think the farther away from the place of Neda's death, the better.

I see the earlier post (with the video) got deleted.

Holly, I totally agree with you. What's going on is horrible and inexcusable .. but I do wonder .. why now? Why are people *just now* showing an interest .. Iran, and many other places have been dealing with this terrible violence and oppression for YEARS ... and all of a sudden, the world sits up and looks around..

    I think that's a real shame....

Years ago, I had an online penpal of sorts (email pal I should say). She lived in Israel .. @ one point when things were getting crazy there, she emailed me and told me that within the next few days, maybe weeks she could be wiped out. She of course was not kidding .. I have never changed my email and sadly enough, never heard from her again... She had sent me several pics she took (an an amateur photographer) and the images were devastating ... I've thought of her often over the years and still, at times, find myself wondering if she suffered some horrible fate ..

    it's all very sad

THis is really sad. We are moving ahead but we can't completely do that until we usher the rest of the world into the new age.Something like this can make one really think hard. We can't just simply pretend that our own little island will stand the test when all the bad people of the world wins.
