Ok - presume someone can sell their blog for real good $$...

    Who's buying it, and why?

    What's their business model?

And it they are doing something that we aren't... what the heck are we doing??

Find out who's doing it right.

Actually the blog should only be an attraction strategy - where you gain attention for the real product or service you are offering.

No matter what you are talking about, there are related products you could mention and earn some affiliate income from your blog.

You can have a link saying Click here to donate using paypal. It may sounds funny but I have seen some successful bloggers do it.

Unfortunately, there are only a very few bloggers who are actually making money. The real money is being made by:

    1) The advertising platforms (e.g. Adsense, affiliate channels, etc.) that are keeping the vast majority of the revenue that advertisers are paying.

    2) Those sites that are selling ebooks on how to make money blogging.

However, as others have mentioned, people do use blogging as a marketing/advertising tool to draw attention to their product and service, and that certainly works. As for me, I am using a blogging platform on my site as a laboratory to learn more about Internet traffic, and hopefully increase the traffic to my site, and therefore its underlying value.

    Wish me luck!

It really depends on the skills you have. If you make things like paintings or jewelry, you can sell stuff on a blog. Also, if you have specific skill like public speaking or recruiting you can sell yourself on a blog. You can also show your photographs and sell those. You can offer web design and sell your designs or templates. You can write to get paid. Direct services where you are the producer of a product or service make more money than affiliate sites. They also seem to be more appropriate because basically a blog is about selling or promoting yourself or your ideas.

There are as many ways to make money from blogging as there other types of websites. All you need to do is figure out how you want to earn an income and then stick to your knitting.

Buying and selling blogs can be quite lucrative, and its pretty similar to buying a house and renovating it, or buying a business and building back to profitability before selling it. I know it can be done and it makes a nice income.

I don't think I would purchase a blog, since almost all the value of a blog is in the blogger. This is different from a house, where the value is not the occupants, but the house and land they live in.

yeah, i'd never buy a blog that had too much personality invested in it, they are too difficult to maintain, but I often buy blogs that have content, are indexed, and getting some traffic, then I'll go back and tweak or re-write older posts, build up the readership and backlinks, then go find a buyer who wants a quick entry to blogging, or maybe an SEO who needs more sites for their network.

Didn't Huffington sell for big money? I can't really remember now.

When using Afiliate Programs Make sure the affiliate programs are related to your blog though.

or make sure your traffic is looking for them, and talk them up so your readers get excited by them

there are lots of ways. You can enrol programs like this one> my search funds

    www.mysearchfunds.co.uk/apply001.asp?Friend=93241

This program pays you for searching on the web. For each search you get o,o6 dollars. You can add the search motor to your tool bar so you can make money from every search you make instead of clicking just because. And you can add a link to your site. Every user that registers through your link will increase your revenue. I am just starting but i read good reviews.

then theres payperpost, if your site is good enough to apply you can get some money from reviewing. Adsense is a good source of reviews for sites with lots of viewers. Thats just couple of clues. But i havent been seriously trying to make money from mine so far.

I tried paid clicks. Would recomend it though. Too much trouble for nothing.

look at your goals, did you set your blog up to look like a blog, or a website, is your goal to sell things then pick a niche and stick to it, if your gona do reviews you'll need a lot of traffic, noone wants to pay for reviews from a site that gets 30 hits a day and has very little pr. Solve a problem, answer qustions and recomend fixes and youll make money, if your traffic is looking for what you offer that makes it much easier. If you just got banners up, good luck w/ that It wont work.
