So I am an illustrator and I have been playing with the idea of making my own book... I have never done one, I usually illustrate things for products or greeting cards and stuff like that... but lately I am really into illustrations for children.
Anyway I am looking for one or more people to make a book.
I believe I am a good illustrator but you might want to see some of my work before accepting this offer... perhaps my style doesn't fit you... Anyway if you are interested just let me know...
By the way you can check my illos at: pazdesigns.blogspot.com

Excellent work!
I think your story should be located on your Island. So pan shots would be cool and then when your on it's location to can dream along.
Keep in mind writing for children is very hard. You can't go over their heads, and there is always a lesson involved, a moral to the story so to say.
My husband has 2 years of children literature, I'll have him take a look, maybe he can come up with an idea or two. -
If you're looking to submit to a publisher, most prefer not to receive (or even do not accept) illustrations and text together. If you're an illustrator, submit illustrations; if you're a writer, submit text.

this is a bit of an old thread so not sure if you'll even see it.
In reply to Madame X's comment, it's because the publisher's want creative control over the book. It's their job to pick whatever illustrator they think would fit best with a particular manuscipt, then put it all together etc.
I've just released my first kid's book and I decided to bypass the publishers. I'm a writer and I teamed up with an illustrator. She picked one of my stories that inspired her and did the illustrations (I gave her a storyboard to work with so she knew exactly what to draw), then I put it together with my text and self published it on Lulu. Now I'm starting the process of promoting and selling it. You can read about in my blog (I blog about lots of stuff, but quite a few posts about the book). mzadragon.blogspot.com/
My illustrator is great, but her style doesn't suite all of my stories and I have lots of stories ready to be turned into books. So if you're still interested, drop me a line (contact info is on my blog). Cheers and best of luck.
