Is anyone using Dreamhost?

I'm using Dreamhost as a host. I've never had any problems with them, until the past 3 or 4 days. My blogs are running slow due to their sever.

Is anyone else having the problem? And have you received any word on what's going on?

I'm still curious if anyone else if having the problem right now.

Cathryn, if you log in to your Dreamhost account panel, and go to the "Support" section, there's an "Account Tests" link there. Go there and click "Test My Account". Wait about 10 minutes, and come back to this section, and you'll see whether or not the server your site is on is under a heavy load, or being migrated, or other such problems.

This will help you get an idea of whether or not it's a limited-time problem, or if it's something you should contact support about via e-mail.

there seems to be a general problem with a great many hosting companies. All of them went down for maitenance within this time frame which leads me to believe they all were being attacked by something common or some bit of software was vulnerable. We use 5 different ones for our professional hosting, but not dreamhost. Everyone of them started having problems about Thursday. The only one we are having problems with still is hostgator.

I know this post is a couple of days old.. but wanted to say a couple things...

1. if you ever have issues with Dreamhost.. check here first : www.dreamhoststatus.com/ -- there have been a number of issues that hit all at once this last week.

That said, this link is one of the reasons, I like Dreamhost, I've never been with a company that is so upfront about down time or issues. They lay it all out there for us. I've been with them since 2002 and frankly had less than 1 day of downtime. Just MHO, they are great especially for the price.

I'm not trying to plug their services, this is just my experience.
