People in this modern world are mostly busy in making money or pursuing their dreams, blogging is one way of creating a community to share their thoughts.

As a matter of fact, some of the most visited blogs in Sweden are "Gossip Blogs". For instance: Blog with stories about customers at a local supermarket in Sweden; obviously written by someone working there.
Another blog is about what people are talking about on buses, in the streets and the market places ... Very popular, indeed.. -
Professional or intermediate bloggers simply blog for the love to write, to increase their awareness, writing skills, earning a life, sharing knowlegde and boost discussions and communities..
Whereas others, more often youngters, use blogging as a means of gossiping or as goes the sayings: "it's fashion".. -
I wholeheartedly agree, these days blogging is a great way to communicate with people across the world. I think it can be seen as a form of gossip, but it also reminds me of ancient Greek culture when they used to debate and discuss current issues with others in order to educate themselves and state their opinions. I think blogging is doing the same thing. Like you guys were saying, we're not so much gossiping as we are communicating on a global scale about issues that are affecting us.
What does everyone think about business blogging (ie: blogging to attract attention to businesses?) -
:-) Too much gossip that's too specific on a blog might just might grow to haunt the blogger. I can't remember the stats anymore about how many employers are using blogs to learn more about prospective employees...
If it's of too personal a nature-- dissing the former boss, spreading rumours about neighbors and coworkers, etc.-- that blogger might find the road ahead is a little bit bumpy...
