Yes? Bad for the eyes, I suppose

It's highly addictive and the result is a highly classified secret society called B.A.D. (Bloggers Addiction Disorder) Anonymous
  2. exinco
bad in term of healthy. back, neck and finger pain, eyes burn. other than that money and info we get is great
    1. footiam
      Not bad!
  3. BomberoKing
    NOPE. NOT AT ALL.
  4. suburbqueen
Bad only if you let it interfere with your "real life." Great if you can find a balance between the two!
    1. footiam
There must be a balance somewhere, I suppose. A middle way!
  5. brigid
All depends on the person. Usually excessive blogging and the related health problems are connected to a much broader addiction to all things internet.

Gotta tear myself away from this beast once in a while...
    1. footiam
I know what you mean. I am trying to tear myself away now but well, I fail!
  6. MadameX
"Bad" might be extreme, but I think it's often rather self-indulgent.
    1. Norski
      Case in point, Narcissus-X ( narcissus-x.blogspot.com/ ).

      That's my self-indulgent self-promotion.
  7. jackpayne
Excessive blogging is like giving a drunk another drink to sober him up.

    I try to avoid that.
    1. footiam
      Good advice!
    1. footiam
Sometimes do suffer from blogger depression!
  8. Sally
No its great, my parents love peeking in and seeing what I'm up to, trouble is so do the clients so I have to be very careful !! Rather addictive though
    1. footiam
      It's like drug!
  9. ender
    duh.

    EVERYTHING is bad

i think blogging causes cancer. oh wait.

i got cancer before i started a blog. blogging cures cancer. no, wait. i was cancer-free before i started my blog.

    hmm

well, no matter. i'm sure blogging is bad. that's why i do it.
    1. footiam
It's normal to like bad things!
  10. berryliciousme
Yes, I'm obsessed with it. LOL
    1. footiam
We can obsessed with good things and then, that good thing becomes bad!
  11. Naturalwoman
it's bad if that's all you do. it's therapeutic if you need to write.
  12. Mushfiq
Not bad but blogging makes people addicted
  13. n8
Blogging causes piles. Though it's not enough to make me quit. Bad, good...you decide
    1. footiam
That's a first. Blogging causes piles!
  14. kab625
Join my group: Bloggers Anonymous. We have a one step program and serve coffee.
    1. footiam
Does that mean that blogging is bad?
    2. Norski
      Do you have a blog?
  15. moneyrush
Bad for the brain, excessive thinking LOL...actually for me blog is not bad it's my cup of tea and my "me" time. so not bad at all.
    1. footiam
Everything that is excessive is bad!
  16. Ghiath
It's bad if it stops you from doing what you have to do.
  17. footiam
Anything that is excessive is bad.
  18. kdawg68
I'm totally addicted to blogging and participating in forums now. Even weirder - I've always been a social butterfly and now I find myself making lots of new friends online.

Still....I do wish I could get everyone together for an actual party and really meet everyone....especially my wordpress buddies in the forums over there.
    1. footiam
      Is this good or bad?
  19. br3adman
Bloggin is good if i make money bad when im not.
  20. harleyblues
Geee are you kidding? it should be theareputic for all~
    hb~
  21. whojaybe
Yes, blogging is bad. Um, why are we all on Blogcatalog?! lol
    1. footiam
The same reason why some people smoke I suppose!
  22. DrowseyMonkey
I guess it's like anything, if you let it interfere with your real life, then that's not good. Balance is good. Which is why I'm here at 2am, LOL.
    1. Norski
      Been there, done that.

That sort of lapse in judgment can be annoying. More so for my wife: She has to deal with me later in the morning.
  23. jafabrit
yes if it is taken to extremes and like DrowseyMonkey says and it starts to interfere with real life.
Moderation and balance means I can have a me cake and eat it without looking like a heffalump, and same applies to blogging.
    1. footiam
Yeah, everything that is done to the extreme is bad!
  24. Naturalwoman
for whom? not for bloggers. everything in moderation.
  25. rileycentral
Is Penicillin bad? Only if you are allergic or if you OD.
    1. MadameX
It might be, if you were just taking it gratuitously. It's not really analogous, because penicillin is used to combat a problem; it's not something we just add to our lives because we feel like it.
    2. markstoneman
Blogging can combat problems too, in my case mental chaos: markstoneman.wordpress.com/2007/12/26/blogging-to-make-sense-of-the-world/
  26. tiggyblog
If I wasn't spending time blogging I might be doing something even more pointless i.e. sitting in front of the TV, drinking, going for walks etc.
    1. MadameX
On whether or not it inspires you to go around dropping irrelevant links into discussions like a common spammer?
    2. Norski
      MadameX,

I'm covered with shame and remorse. Did you see what I did, replying to your comment, a little earlier?
  27. melisasriwulandari
It's dangerous. Absolutely. I can't go for days without blogging.
    1. footiam
Just like smoking I suppose, or drugs!
  28. sophielc
It's bad if you get obsessed by it, as life can pass you by while you're away blogging but it's good if you make money from it or get some kind of liberation by expressing yourself on your blog.
I wrote an article once how blogging can help you lose weight:

    Unhealthy Obsession!
  30. rileycentral
I think if you become a daily blogger you are in a new zone. At that point, if you aren't making money you have to ask yourself what you get from it. If you can't make a decent list of how you benefit then you should either: cut back to a couple posts a week and/or make some money at it. I know a couple people on here I've seen post that they are "professional" marketers etc. but I think a large percentage of folks in these BC parts are quite addicted and making no money. Just my perception. I write every month about my goals and money progress with my blog. I suggest something like that to those who think they are wasting their time/career/eyes etc. Here's the link, maybe it will give you an idea how I benefit by challenging myself and getting paid 100-500/month through blogging: postcardsfromthefunnyfarm.com/a-self-rating-system-for-my-blog/

    On a lighter note ...
Are you ready to take the Blogger’s Pledge?
    onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/04/28/are-you-ready-to-take-the-bloggers-ple...
    1. rileycentral
I liked that. really true for some of us and that makes it funny. But if you have goals as a blogger, then some of that stuff is not so bad. It's just an artist making goals and setting them. Because it's a new technology, people have a hard time with the goals. I don't think that's a heavier note or a lighter note but I am a very heavy guy (not in weight, I am 170, 5'8") And remember I named my blog the Funny farm so ... I can't really help being out there once in a while ... ok daily ... hourly.
  32. bladeaxe4
No, lol i orginally wrote almost 1500 articles till now and what do i want now is plz letting nobody acknowledge me for anything, let them be star and i be all happy to start to acknowledge them... so for now, im off with usual blogging with no me in them... i think i wud start writing again, but atleast i should improve a little more than actual... my eyes??? it was but now i can sit before weeks before PC, my eyes dont hurt now !!! nops, i dont about my career yet !!!!
  33. kaguvkov
    Highly addictive!
    1. footiam
Sounds like drug and that's bad!
  34. saiffarooqi
it can be bad if it becomes addictive ... but on the other side what if a person uses blogging for his/her career ... maybe it can be helpful in a great way when it comes to ones career (depending on the individual) ... probably someone who's using blogging to spread his/her writings/articles ... u never know ...
    1. footiam
Using it for a career; that sounds useful!
  35. SomeMuslimMan
What's the reference point for defining "good" and "bad"? Thanks for 'Albert Einstein' and the 'Relativity Theory' :S

Aside from joking, it's good to have a balanced behavior between your virtual and real life so you can achieve your goals in both!
  36. dosox
Bad for my eyes but still i love it.
    1. footiam
I think they are bad for my eyes too. So, now I use pinhole spectacles!
  37. purelegalcomputing
bad for me if i spend more than 2 hours a day, especially when my schedule is full
    1. footiam
But it is nice, isn't it?
