Many bloggers have added Youtube videos on their blog. They said it will help to keep readers a little longer hanging around your blog. What do you think of adding videos on your blog?

I think that one or two videos are OK, if they are relevant to the blog, or the blogger (something to add a little pizazz and insight on the blogger) - but too many slow down load time and or start to look cluttered, in my opinion.
I do like video blogs, but only if it has at least some writing along with the video...otherwise I don't even watch. -
I've actually got lots of feedback that folks find the youtube videos I post helpful, especially for doing some visual handicapping of similarly ranked horses. I also make my own from time to time and those seem to be pretty well received. Not surprisingly, they are usually about Curlin.
It definitely seems to get traffic for me, but the drawback happens when youtube goes down and your posts look like they have gaping holes in them where once a proud and relevant youtube video was inserted. -
Thanks, guys, I guess it depends on what kind of blog you have, huh?
What do you of some motivational videos? I have a work from home ideas type of blog and thinking about adding Youtube motivational videos on taking the chance, make a move on opportunity, that kind of nature.
What do you think of this idea? -
I include a lot of videos. It's much easier to show a picture or a video of a dance step than it is to explain it.

You know, after revisiting this thread, I have to ask - do you mean videos on the sidebar, or in the posts themselves? I automatically assumed in the side bar.....which might tell you something. What, I don't know, but something!

I sometimes use YouTube videos. People add comments on them, so I guess they work. One danger: If you do it like me, and just use other people's stuff, then you have to realize that they might take it down at some point, leaving your post dead in the water. This has happened to me in a few cases, usually after the post is quite old though.
If I wasn't so lazy, I'd save what I'm linking to, in case it ever goes away. Then I could just upload it to YouTube myself. -
I avoid videos like the plague:
- It's a waste of bandwidth (twenty seconds of video or three sentences and maybe a picture-- which is more efficient?)
- I have to pause my music (which is like a mortal sin to me)
- It's too easy for the videos to include advertisements (which I can't stand)
Maybe I'm a little old-fashioned.
