Is it just me?

Or is there a severe lack of creativity here? All I see is a plethora of "get rich quick with a barrage of google ads and meaningless tweets" blogs.
Can someone explain this to me?

When you say "all you see", where do you mean, exactly? Since there are more than 100,000 blogs in the directly (actually, I believe it's closer to 200,000, but I'm not sure), that seems unlikely.

Hm. These discussions only account for a tiny fraction of the members who have blogs listed here, but I haven't found what you say here to be accurate at all. Offhand, Theresa111, Alcomum, Melindaville, Libdrone, Norski, ThriftShopRomantic, Clioandme and many others who are very active in discussions have very good non-commercial blogs. There are many others, so please, don't read anything in if I've left you out!

This issue comes up often. No discernible solutions it seems. When I first joined BC I clicked "Groups", found 2 or 3 related to "Art" and posted my first comments there. Very little activity. Minimal responses. I followed the groups for a couple of weeks. Discouraged, I started clicking "Discuss" and have basically been here every since. Yes, frustration shared with others in topic discussions like this, but I don't see any answers.
I just looked at the first art group I connected with back then. The last post a month ago. The other two art groups had posts a day ago - but scant activity.
I don't know...?-
Further add to my comment above. (w/cynicism writ large) If generating comments/responses to my post were the primary goal, I should not ask questions that interest me - as "Is there a period in which you feel your creativity peaked? Do you know why?" but instead post something like the following:
How many vowels in your first name?
Were you given a nickname? What? and Why?
Given $10 extra receiving change, do you correct teller?
Are polar bears by-polar?
Would you have eaten Eve's apple?
Do all snakes coil when sleeping?
Do you use "LOL" often?
etc., etc. groan. At least it'd generate traffic.

Shag, you might be going about this search the wrong way.
Let us say you are interested in history blogs. Take a handful of blogs you know to be of high quality and free of financial concerns eg The History Blog, the Victorian era, EdwardianPromenade and English Buildings. Read which blogs those four cite, check their own Followers List and then see who follows them. Build up a network of blogs that you trust and enjoy. Add to it from time to time, as you link into new quality blogs.
You have to kiss a lot of warty frogs, but you will find your prince(ss). -
Yeah - it can be annoying to filter through the ad-laden, "make money" blogs. I avoid those myself.
But there are lots of great (creative, funny, interesting) blogs out there.
Personally, I hope/believe my blog is in the latter category.
At any rate, directories are usually better sources than boards, but some good ones here too. -
Hmmm... I do have ads. I have a PR 3 on one of those blogs decent traffic so I wouldn't say I'm boring. I do tweet but not on my blog. I will tweet about my blog. No, I don't do get rich. I'm more of an activist, community service type.
Maybe, if you use the search up at the top you'll find something appealing. -
I think some people get what they look for. I look for interesting blogs and find them. Every pone of my "friends" has something interesting to say.
