   I am friends with almost all of my exes and so they not only wish me happy birthday and vice versa but typically talk to me a few times a week... so I see nothing wrong with wishing happy birthday to an ex

    It depends on the ex. And how long the relationship has been over.
    
    If you have a stalker-type ex, or one of those clingy types, then it would probably not be a good idea.
    
    If you broke up recently and the ex wasn't in favour of the breakup, it could give him/her false hope that you are wanting to get back together...not such a great idea.
    
    If the ex has a jealous-type new partner, probably a bad idea...you don't want to cause strife between them.
    
    If the ex has told you "Never speak to me again!" or has a restraining order...BAD idea!
    
    But if the two of you have an amicable relationship and your new partners do not have an issue with it, why not?

       My parents and my ex took me to court to try to get my daughter because I homeschool her. The judge told them where to go after I had to do algebra and english in the class room. I still homeschool my kids and my ex hasnt shown up here to pick her up in months.
