With effort you can drive traffic to your sites, but 100,000 hits takes a lot of great content and work behind the wheel driving traffic in from other sources. If you had everyday all day to do this it is possibly doable but still that is a huge audience.
I went on a little 'drive' recently and within 2 hrs I had 300 hits to one site.
But I am no where close to 100,000 though overall I've been read about that, but that is since I started not every month!! -
here is link for free advertising.

Anybody knows how it works ? -
My highest is arount 74,000 just a tad over. I havent paid for anything so I guess that counts.
As for 100,000 it would be hard but not impossible, my blog is a bit over 4 months and receiving 50,000 Unique visitors a month. This morning for example I received 8027 unique visitors in 2 hours.
You need to optimize SEO, use social bookmarks sites, and generally post good content. -
This blog stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com has already got 6,156,465 hits in less than two months.

Just stop by to this site and wow a lot of traffic.
That is my goal also with my blog

Yes but much of social media's traffic is VERY SHALLOW. I get a lot of traffic from some social media sites and the duration/page depth is quite disappointing.
I'm planning on adding a newsletter to my blogs so I can at least capture the ones that are genuinely interested.
Shoot for quality over quantity.-
It depends on what you write.
Personally for me search engine traffic is a waste, unless they are googling my sites title people are on my page less than seven seconds with most top google searches because I write a comedy blog. It isn't a source of information, which I totally understand.
Social media like stumbleupon does well for me, those people stay on my site for about two minutes. So they are at least reading the post, which is more than I can say for the people that find me via search engines. Although the people that are googling my the name of my site stay for about ten minutes.
As far as for shooting for quality over quantity why can't you do both? More traffic means more eyeballs, even though they might not be quality eyeballs at least people are getting exposed to my site in some way. Plus with higher traffic numbers I make myself more attractive to advertisers and elevate the status of my blog. -
I think you're right, Pointless-- it absolutely depends on what you're writing, your niche.
It's good to have some really targeted traffic sources. But putting it out there through Google, where, yes, folks tend not to stay as long unless it's specific information they're looking for doesn't hurt. It might be a smaller conversion rate, but it's free traffic. -
Oh I am happy to get traffic from where ever. I have been working to improve my SEO because I have too much content to not get a good amount of traffic from search engines.
Free traffic is free traffic, I am not one to look a gift horse in the face... Or whatever that old saying is...
How does your site do with google images? I know you use a lot of pictures. -
Getting better all the time, in terms of images, yup.
Now that the Blogspot portion of my site has been around about three months, I'm seeing the search engine stuff uptick to twice what it had been. And this last week, I started seeing the Google images referrers. Those are actually not too bad for me in terms of qualified traffic. They already can see what I've been working on through the photos, so they don't arrive and get scared off.

I did like your trays that had office supplied in them.
Yeah images take forever to get index, after I moved my site a few months ago from wordpress mu (a server edition I had it on) to a single wordpress install it awhile for things to get back to normal.
Once you get rolling though it is pretty huge, it is like my 5th biggest referrer now. I use like one or two pictures a post, I can't even imagine what is going to happen for you a month or two down the road.

A couple of article stumbled on stumbleupon, I'm sure you can get 100k page views, I did it. SO I think you can achieve the same result that I had.

It's easy! GOOGLE ADV!
or check this www.blogcatalog.com/advertise/ -
I get 3.5 million page views a month but it is on a forum:
www.sportscardforum.com
I get about 60,000 with my Zune Blog:
www.zuneinfo.com
I do very little advertising and would get that traffic without advertising. Over 75% of my traffic comes from direct or Google.-
I found that you site(forum)has a traffic rank of: 99,915 at alexa.com
My site www.fileplaza.com has a traffic rank of: 47,460
And I think that you site have not 3.5 million page views!
Or NOT?

Check out Gizmodos site meter at: www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=sm7gizmodous
They average 1.6 million page views per day. -
Possible if you have top ranking for few popular keywords in search engines.
For my blog funnyjokes4me.blogspot.com the traffic for last month was around 1,40,000 pageviews. -
What happens to your website if…
* …you get a spike of millions of hits a day due to mainstream media, Digg, Slashdot, or BoingBoing? (Or all of the above!)
* …a hard drive in your server burns up?
* …any one of the services on the server—MySQL, Apache, DNS, PHP—fails?
* …every post gets deleted, is there a recent backup? How old is it?
* …your datacenter’s network goes down or has problems?

Once i bumped onto a blog run by a woman...
she hit 1000000000 views in one month...
you know why?
she said she'll post a pic of her taking bits of her clothes off at every 10000 hits ending with a full frontal...
