I'm meeting today with an art student to talk about illustrations for my blog, so yes, I would buy illustrations, though I am planning to request specific ones to be drawn for me.

I'm actually interested in what you are charging for you illustrations - it looks like between $1 and $9? That seems reasonable to me. I think the trick is having illustrations that people would want to use. Yours are great. Best of luck.

You can set up a paypal button on your blog.

The picture you show for sale on your blog needs to be low resolution and have some sort of writing across the middle to make copying it undesirable.

Once paid, email the buyer the jpg or whatever form it is in full/highest res.

Warning - it's going to be impossible for you to stop buyers from passing the pix to others for free. Also, if your picture shows up on an internet image search then it's up for grabs by the whole world and it's usually pretty easy to get rid of the writing using PAINT or other programs.

How about just selling the original illustration for more money and shipping it to the buyer? Make sure you retain rights for reproduction.

Your illustrations are very good! I agree with what busylizzy says about making sure you format the art so people can't copy them for free. Good luck! I also bookmarked your site for future reference. By any chance do you do illustrations on request--because I actually have one that I would like someone to do for me.

Agreement all around.. watermark your work when it is online - primarily with your website so if the photo goes astray it always points back to you

I watermark all my photos and drawings with my name and website, the trick is not to have the watermark distract from the art while making it hard to paint out... put it through a complicated part of your art so it is hard to simply "paint"... people are lazy and if you make them work they'll just go look for something else to steal.

There are also lots of submit you own stock illustration sites out there.. like
    www.shutterpoint.com/Sell-Photos.cfm

or an online art gallery like
    www.theartpublishinggroup.com/

(I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE SITES AS I HAVE NOT USED THEM)

I would also expand your marketing to advertising agencies and designers, stock houses or art gallery sites (like the links above) and perhaps even ebay.

Start some buzz for your work on FLICKR and DEVIANTART.

    good luck.

It would really depend whether or not I would actually pay for illustrations. I suppose it would depend if the work I wanted done was accurate. But these are hard economic times, right now, and I'm very picky. But I would like personal logos and cartoons done, hopefully.

Especially once I get my novel project going, I'd love to have the occasional illustration to go with the chapters, as I think it'd add a lot to the reader experience. I'd be willing to pay an artist for that.

You may want to get some more well known bloggers to use a piece of your work first - with link and then stat selling them. If you upload them to the likes of deviant art or other vehicles they won't be able to be copied if you set it that way, either and you might want to make a beginning price-list for custom work or at least a sample indicator. I think people are more likely to click through or request a consult and final price when they know where about the price might be.

I think there is definitely a market for art as good as yours. However, I believe that most bloggers and site maintainers would rather request specific custom pieces rather than pick from previously created illustrations.

On a side note, have you considered creating web based comics?
