Someone just told me that if my site is fallible to switch to a .com instead of the .info as Google will give a better page rank for .com's.
Is that true? It's a bit late I guess but just wondered why. Why does the big G give a better PR for .com's and not for .info's?
Doesn't it matter on a lot of other things like age/incoming links etc?

.com is what most people try to register first, and the only shortcut (Ctrl+Enter) TLD that works in Internet Explorer.

Try it: kobrascorner (or blogcatalog or google or whatever you want to check) then Ctrl+Enter. In Firefox, you can Shift+Enter for .net and Ctrl+Shift+Enter for .org. Those 3 are the most popular.

There are many things that go into calculating page rank, but I've never heard of TLD being one of the factors, and I wouldn't worry about that.

Yeh I know all about the keyboard shortcuts. (thanks for trying to get me to visit your site) What's that got to do with Page Rank though? Someone just posted a reply to a review on my site saying that I should go for a .com if it's fallible as Google will give me a better PR for it. I just wondered what evidence there was if any behind this. I thought it mattered on the things most important such as age of URL and backlinks to it etc etc. It doesn't matter what the TLD is right?

    Can any experts confirm this?

I'm no expert and I don't have an answer. What I do observe is that there are appear to be many sploggers and spammers set up on .info domains, which were supposed to be for information-based services. I'm not clear why this is but it could be simply because there are so many of them. I prefer to purchase .com domains.

IMHO a .com site probably doesn’t rank better than a .info because of their TLD extension, but because of their SEO work.

Here's some information on .info domains domains.dan.info/structure/new-tlds.html

    Damn those spammers! :@
Maybe I should have gone for a .com then in hindsight. However I like the fact that a .info is short for information which is what my site has. I suppose I will stick with it. I guess it's all down to the content on the site more than whatever the domain name is anyway.
Here is the domain name in question anyway www.sellyourmobile.info

Thanks tf. Just spent the last 10 minutes or so reading that. There's too much to take it but I need to apply some of the things listed there that I haven't yet so will have to return to it.

Thanks for your help and for providing me with the info that you did.
