Topics: blogging readership
I have 2 blogs, one cooking, one personal. I get an average of 18 readers per day on each blog (I change entries every 3 or 4 days.) I'm wondering if you all think it's worth my time. How many readers do you get per day?

Do you blog for yourself?
Or do you blog to share your information?
Or do you blog for money?
It really depends on WHY you are BLOGGING in the first place, I suppose.
I blog for affiliate gambling corporations - but that's a side thing.
I have in the past - and in the present run personal blogs...
But - I will say this - I do what I do for me...
I build it, but if no one comes - it's still just for me.
SO I'm happy with 1 reader a week - to 5000 readers a week.
I bounce a lot with my gambling affiliate blog - I'm highly ranked in Google - for my keywords... So it depends on what folks are looking for.
I get between 20 - 5000 per week - and yes... IT DOES VARY that widely weekly.
90% of my traffic is SEO related.
10% are the good kind hearted folks from BC who go to my site just to let me know they care... But because it's on gambling - most back out quickly as if they had just stopped at a porn store - and don't want a lot of folks seeing them there. LOL! -
I blog because it gives me an outlet for creative thought, rants, favorite subjects, things that pop into and out of my mind and just because I enjoy doing it. But for the small amount of visits I get, I just wonder if it's worth my time.

If you enjoy doing it, who cares about visitors?
I've had a random thoughts blog since August 2006, and it averages about 6 or 7 visitors per day right now. I write it because it's fun, so visitors are just a bonus.
If you like it when people read what you write, there are many ways to increase the amount of traffic to your blog. Do a search for discussions on the topic of increasing traffic, or check out some sites with info on the matter. Timethief, for example, has a great blog about blogging and everything it entails.

Blogging takes time to do, and blogs take time to build up traffic. You can help build your traffic through social networking.
And if you haven't already, it would be a good idea to submit a sitemap to Google, so it will index your pages more regularly. After a year or so, I've seen a big surge of Google traffic.
But like I said, it takes time. It helps to truly enjoy what you're blogging about. -
I agree that if you enjoy it, it's worth it. And it takes time to slowly build readers. Only you can decide. :-)
I blog to share my photos, and connect with people as well as to promote my Artfire studio. But the primary reason is to share and the few sincere comments I get regularly make it worth it to me.

I love aphorisms, and I love writing them. I feel because of them I am always in touch with my love of life and the beauty of the world. I get 10-20 visitors per day-tops. A good percentage of those who drop by seem to like my writing. If I get one appreciative reader a day, I'm in heaven. Plus, in the three months I've been blogging I feel I've made some deep interpersonal connections with some amazing individuals in all parts of the world. So yes, blogging has definitely been worth it

Again - it depends on your reasons...
As you stated - you blog for YOU.
It shouldn't matter, then - how many people come to your site.
You could share it - or not.
It's YOURs...
You are the only visitor that matters.
HOWEVER - if you are blogging to garner an audience then you need to network yourself and ingratiate yourself into the places that actually let you meet people who are into the same things or moods that you are - and allow them to share their blogs with you - and your blog with them.
It's your motivation that keeps you doing it.
It is your need that keeps you doing it.
If you want more visitors - you have to go out there and CONVINCE them that YOUR blog is worth reading.
So - what are visitors WORTH?
To you.
