I have gotten several disgusting blisters on my feet, from a rather disturbing hobby of mine. Its a strange thing called hiking! Heard of it?

As for the blisters, get better boots!
    1. offendedblogger
Do you always have to be so logical?

      And right??
    2. crpitt
I do need new ones actually, I squirted blister juice everywhere
    3. gosmelltheflowers
      Are you gellin? We're gellin!
    4. Anok
      Yes, and Eeeeewwwwww LOL.

I just like hiking and/or other um, sports (?) that include much running or foot work, and typically require boots....

If running away from incriminating scenes is a sport, anyway LOL!

My Docs do a fabulous job of keeping blisters at bay - so long as you wear the right socks.
    5. crpitt
I have had trouble finding the right socks.
    6. Anok
But the left ones are always handy, I suppose?
    7. crpitt
      hey!
      That was funny

Now give me some sock advice!
    8. Anok
      Heh....

OK, well, I guess it depends on the boots you've got. See mine are 10 eyed steel toed - So I always make sure to wear "boot socks" which are really a pumped up pair of glorified tube socks. They are long, so you can fold them over the top, so no sliding socks! It has extra reinforcement of the toes, and tend to offer some extra cushion. If you have arch problems, you can also get ones with elastic support in the arch area.

Blisters are caused by friction, so make sure your socks aren't overly scratchy, or exposing your skin (or that your boots have rough edges somewhere, or are improperly fitted).

If you are hiking in cold weather, wear a pair of wool sock OVER a pair of cotton socks. They keep your feet warm, but will wick away the moisture, preventing boot rot. Cotton is always good for keeping your feet dry, and tends to be a very comfy material. So is fleece, but I find they don't last long...

Holy cow, why do I know so much about socks?

Moleskin can be the hiker's best friend.
    1. crpitt
      How so?
    2. markstoneman
It's a kind of padding you can put on spots that are feeling sensitive. You might get to them before blisters develop. If you're too late, you can put padding on the area around the blister, so there is no rubbing on the blister itself. www.drscholls.com/product.aspx?prodid=52& I thought everyone knew what this stuff was. Is it an American thing?
    3. crpitt
Never heard of it! Sounds like a great product
I will have to see if I can get it here.
  17. aningeniousname
Great pic, I would say the blisters are definitely worth it if you get a view like that.

I've got hand blisters from Playing Guitar Hero all weekend. That's right....I'm going to see how many gratuitous references to the Guitar Hero games I can make today.

You might be able to file for full disability if the blisters are bad enough! Then you can play Guitar Hero all day for the rest of your life on the taxpayer's dime!!!
  24. Craw
Nah, I'm not calling you cheap. I'm calling myself addicted... and there's nothing I can really do about it, hah (yeah, excuses, excuses...)
