Your body and mind absorbs laughter to produce and / or maintain Overall Health. You will not starve your body from food or drink, even for a day, so why should you, starve it from Laughter?? What do you think? Any comments, experiences,etc....

One cannot properly digest food and drink without laughter.
    1. BennyGreenberg
you can -- but you get heart burn
    2. LynneaUrania
which is evidence of poor digestion.
  2. agapelife
    @LynneaUrania - Please elaborate!
    1. LynneaUrania
Do I need to elaborate? Anyone can see for herself that food lays on the stomach a lot longer during sorrow, if indeed you can keep it down at all. When my second brother died, not many wanted to eat. My father wouldn't eat for over a week, he was so wrecked.

But feasting and merrymaking do go together, don't they?
  3. Stillthinking
When I laugh more, I eat and drink less. Too busy enjoying the company of my friends and family to eat!
    1. BennyGreenberg
I would rather enjoy the company of my friends and eat less - my friends are important - and the laughter and smiles are like a magic-potion-of-life. A smile simply sets it all straight... I can pass on the wings... send me a tray of smiles!
  4. agapelife
That's good. Actually one member of my laughter club, found she lost weight, by laughing ? minutes a day. She was tried dieting to lose but did not enjoy it and gave up. So laughing was enjoyable and to her surprise, she lost wt.
  5. BennyGreenberg
Laughter - real laughter - makes us automatically feel better about ourselves and our surroundings... the minute that happens - the "peace with the world" sets in and you can do anything!
  6. agapelife
"Peace with the World" In my laughter club, we conclude by laughing for peace in the world. Also when you don't feel like laugh, you can fake it till you make it, because after a while you just want to laugh, and you no longer fake it. (Dr. Madan Kateria)
    1. BennyGreenberg
"you can fake it till you make it" - That's what she said...
      sorry - I had to
  7. agapelife
@Benny - I'm quoting Dr. Kateria, the founder of Laughter club international. He was talking about Laughing without any reason to Laugh.
    1. BennyGreenberg
I was quoting Michael Scott of Dunder Miflin - He was talking about... What was he talking about?
  8. agapelife
@ Benny - HaHaHaHoHoHo - Very good, Very good Yeah!
    1. BennyGreenberg
      see - laughter is good
  9. inmyredhead
Food and drink sustain life, but laughter makes it worth living.

Has that been said already? Lol.
    1. BennyGreenberg
if not - you just did!
  10. agapelife
@ inmyredhead 0That is a good view but the article stated that your laughter intake should be as daily as your food intake? Do you agree?
  11. inmyredhead
I think it would be optimum yes! I think people who can laugh at themselves tend to be healthier and or more at peace when they happen to not be healthy. I truly think laughter heals. May not be a 'cure' but it heals the soul in so many ways.

Like when people throw parties instead of funerals, when every one else would say you got to have a funeral. I think that's awesome.
  12. agapelife
@Benny - Are you keeping a watch on this thread?Good. I can go for a quick supper now thanks.(smiles)
    1. BennyGreenberg
sorry - but my day is just about over - and I have a full schedule on tap this evening... so maybe later - enjoy the meal!

I'd like to think that i am a pragmatic person, while most of the time i hardly ever find laughter in having meals, maybe a little more so when i'm with friends, i find that there is an unappreciated subtle joy in eating/drinking for your daily nourishment.

What food is to the body, laughter is to the soul.

unless you eat ugly food and drink lemon juice...
  15. agapelife
@IntotheAzureSea - a misunderstanding. I don't think you should be laughing while you're eating as you could choke. No what the article stated is that is laughing x4 daily thing you do like eating and drinking? So do you take time to laugh at least 3 or 4 times a day??
    1. IntoTheAzureSea
I do laugh, only if i genuinely find something to be hilarious and funny. However for the most part, life is quite dull and demanding at where i am, so i don't laugh as much as i should.
  16. dune
It's depends of what ugly food you're referring to Benny. Haha
    1. BennyGreenberg
      now that is funny!
  17. agapelife
@Benny - There is a fruit called Ugly Fruit - looks like a crumpled grapefruit? Have you tasted it?
@ Dune - actually, laughter, studies have shown are also good for the body!! Check this
    empower-you.blogspot.com/2009/02/laughter-therapy-2.html
    1. BennyGreenberg
      @agapelife... I have tasted it...

Isn't it actually called Ugli Fruit?

Usually next to the Star Fruit and other lesser know items in the grocery
    2. dune
      @agapelife
Well, I didn't say it's not good for your body. I totally agree that laughter helps the body, physically and emotionally.

Laughter is an orgasm triggered by the intercourse of sense and nonsense - unknown author
  19. agapelife
    @IntotheAzureSea
That is what the Laughter Club taught me - to make myself laugh without prompting or outside influences. Actually, it was quite easy!
    1. IntoTheAzureSea
I'll take a rain check on that Agape.
  20. agapelife
@ Benny - Does it taste like grapefruit?
  21. agapelife
    @LynneaUrania
Yes when or has sorrow or depression, loss of appetite follows. Also stress creates digestive problems. Apparently Laughter yoga have helped. An account given by some laughter club members to Dr. Kateria. A number of them before entering the laughter club in India, came across a man who lay dying (eyes closed, gasping for air), on the sidewalk. One member stated that they should bring him to hospital and another stated they should do laughter yoga around him. After a few minutes, the dying man opened his eyes and a few minutes later, joined the laughing. About 20minutes later, the man was on his feet laughing with the other members.
    1. LynneaUrania
Quite reverse of saying that someone "died laughing," ya know?
  22. Arcticulates
I think that is why it is an age old custom to start off a speech with a joke, to make people laugh so that they can relax, once relaxed there is a better chance of taking in what is being said.

Laughter is really important to me.. If there seems heavy times going on in the family or job, I will deliberately go and rent a funny movie or listen to a comedian just to get that relief of laughter.

I married my hubby because he makes me laugh. I tend to take myself too seriously sometimes, and he helps me to lighten up and laugh!
  23. agapelife
@Articulate - Yes, so true and congrats for having a partner who makes you laugh!

I love to laugh, I love to make people laugh. I look at laughter as a stress reliever.
Laughter will take away your stress for a little while, but eventually you will have to go back to paying the bills, instead of just giggling at them.
  29. agapelife
@roymerr _ Have you tried laughing at your bills? Apparently laughter will give you insights on how to get the dough for the bills!
    1. roymerr
I do laugh at them sometimes. I got a cable tv bill for 69 dollars one time. I dont know but the 69 just made me laugh. Once had a property tax bill for 12 cents. Cost them 39 cents to send it to me. Was funny.

Sometimes I send the gas bill to the electric company and the electric bill to the gas company. I know they get a kick out of that.

Funeral home where I made pre-arrangments once sent me a bill, said I was overdue...yikes.

Laughter is an amazing healing property. There have been studies where they looked at people with cancer and showed movies of the Marx Brothers or Three Stooges. The people who watched the movies (and laughed) had better treatment results than those who did not.

Laughter may not be 100% necessary for survival--but for a quality life, I would say that it is.
  31. agapelife
@mtyler77 - well as you mentioned that it had better treatment results for those with cancer and if you look at my post - the other properties of laughter, how could you conclude it is not 100% neccesary for survival??(Smiles) Isn't good health a necc. component of survival? Unless one in surviving through respirators and IV feedings?
    1. melindaville
Well, I am just thinking about people who are born without a sense of humor. They might not live a quality life--but they *can* live!

Sorry, I missed your post! I didn't realize this was shameful blog promotion (just kidding) I will check it out now.

      Update--great post, agapelife--I left you a comment.
  32. Zentastic
Well, I write a humor blog, so laughter is very important to me

But seriously, if laughter relieves stress, then it's important, because stress has negative physiological effects on people.
  33. agapelife
Laughter is healthy if you laugh at yourself or with others or at funny situations, but not so at others.
  34. agapelife
melinda - I did ask some of these questions on my post but thought I would get more answers and comments here since so many write comedy blogs and only 2 "funny" bloggers responded! LOL
    1. melindaville
Ha ha ha. Well, you got plenty of comments here!
  35. agapelife
@mtyler77 - Appreciate your comment Melinda. Perhaps you'll start a laughter club in your area. I believe there is one in California.

Laughter is the spice of life.
  37. agapelife
@Theresa - and this is from a chef! HaHaHa
  38. agapelife
@LynneaUranea,- Do you know the origin of that phrase? Did someone actually die laughing??
    1. LynneaUrania
I don't know the origin, but I believe it's a literal truth that one could die from laughing too much.

I've known several who literally came close to it including my grandmother. We had to slap her sober because she had passed out from laughing so hard before that time.

I've laughed so hard sometimes that I have had horrible fits of coughing and vomiting and I thought I would lose consciousness myself.

without laughter, the sky is always grey
without humor the, the day is filled with sorrow
Without comraderie, a life is forever lonely
Without love, life is an empty shell

      An appropriate poem!
  40. aharris77
I just wrote an ezine article about this very thing for my blog www.cutecamsandclips.com. While I don't think laughter is AS important as food/drink I do think it is extremely important to a healthy, happy life.

From what I've read laughter is like internal jogging and releases feel-good and even healing chemicals in the body that have positive effects, so I'm all for it!
    1. agapelife

The American Medical Association says laughter helps build the immune system. I always feel energized after a good laugh.
    1. agapelife
Thanks, I will be using your comment in my next week's post on testimonials on the benefits.

I wrote an article on how laughter is actually good for your health.

    1. agapelife
jflower36 - Thks. Highly recommend my readers to view the You-tube video on her e-zine article,re: the study done at a university hospital on the good changes to the body induced by laughter.
  43. agapelife
@LynneaUrania - Yes that is why in the laughter clubs, we interrupt our laughs after about every 5 minutes, with yogic breathing
