Liverpool have lost as many league games this season as the whole of last season.

Maybe the loss of Xabi Alonso is really affecting them.

As an Arsenal fan I talked up Liverpool's chances on my blog but that was until Alonso left.

Can they pull it together?

Alright, hang on. We only lost 2 games all last season - a phenomenal record - but whether we lost our first 2 games this season or lost none until Xmas, people were always gona wheel out the "God, already lost as many as in the WHOLE of last season..." as soon as it happened.

We have had a shaky start to this years title race. As the current holders did last year.

Our first team only played 2 full matches together in pre-season, so we are still just warming up.

Plenty of time to settle down. We can certainly pull it together. There's a very long way to go.

That said, I am going over to Anfield for the Hull match at the end of Sept, and I'd better see a whole lot better football than was on offer last night!!

Do you reckon Gerrard should play deeper now that Alonso has gone?

Or do you think Aquillani is up to the Alonso task?

I think someone needs to dictate play from deep.

I agree, but I don't think it should be Gerrard. He leaves too much of a gap up front when he drops back.

Liverpool won't win the title until they sign another quality striker and a couple of quality wide players. If I was Rafa I would be busting a gut to sign Robben from Madrid and Bentley from Spurs to give the team some much needed width then as the icing on the cake either David Villa or Aguero to relive the pressure on Torres.

You're right they need wide players but whats the difference between playing Babel out wide and Robben out wide?

Both would concern Rafa when it comes to defending.
