I posted this is the general topic but it got removed... i think because i put a link to my blog. that's why i'm posting it here now! lol

I'm a gay escort in NYC, so clearly I'M ok with prostitution... but i'm wondering what other people's thoughts were. If you think it's moral/immoral, and whether or not it should be legal.

    Why not!!

It is just another kind of job. Unless you've been forced to do that it's ok.

Is it legal in New York?
    1. internetrentboy
No, definitely not legal... but pretty easy to get away with. especially these days with the internet.
  5. amybyrd21
It is in a way and it is not in a way. It is ok if some one is sad enough to have to pay for it with so many willing people these days. that is their right as a human being. It is down right for the person selling it. STD's stuff ajax wont scrub off, people taking advantage of you, people killing you or robbing you. It is not safe at all.

I have never been paid for it but my hubby says it is all paid for in the end. The house, the car, the jewlery, ect....

Plus I dont look good in orange or stripes

I have to say... you'd be surprised at the kinds of people that pay for sex. I haven't done it a lot, but they really aren't the sad messes you might assume they are. Just like you would be VERY surprised that I was escorting if you knew me!

Safety is the definitely the main concern, and to me, the main case against it being legal... although in theory legalizing it would mean regulation and more safety.

When I go to meet a client, I'm nervous all the way there... it's hard to know what i'm walking into. however, once I reach him, it usually evaporates pretty quickly. I think the vast majority of people buying sex are not looking to rob or rape or anything close to that. The ones I have met have been perfectly nice. I also take safety precautions (call/text a friend to let him know i arrived safely... if he doesn't hear from me, he knows the address and can send help). Not that it's not risky! But with the money I'm making, I'm very willing to take that calculated risk.

As I stated on the other discussion:
Humans have been selling themselves for sex and buying sex forever. Certainly all of these millions of people were not lacking morals.
If some trade continues to exist for as long as prostitution has there must be a need or reason for it. It seems to me that prostitution is part of human societies. Prostitution fills a need and is a reality of living in a world run by human societies. For us to deny that there is a purpose of something that has plaid such a large role in our past and present because of current cultural ideals is very foolish.

I cannot be certain however the tags in this post and in the one that says my post was removed all seem to indicate that this is being used to promote the key words NY City prostitute, rent boy NYC.

I'm removing both of these threads as while there is no reason not to discuss the morality of prostitution using BC as a platform for a NY prostitute to increase their search rankings is not what this site is for.

InternetBoy, if you want to start a discussion about the morality of prostitution don't use those tags as they are a pretty clear indication of the reason you have started this discussion.
    1. internetrentboy
um ok i disagree but this either way, this one is posted in shameless blog promotion? so whats the prob?
    2. internetrentboy
also i'm not advertising my business... my blog is completely anonymous.
    3. TonyB
then why use the specific tags that you used in this discussion?
    4. DollinNYC
Maybe because he is new to BC?
    5. internetrentboy
I guess because i'm a gay escort who is starting this discussion? As I said in the post, "I'm a gay escort in NYC, so clearly I'M ok with prostitution... but i'm wondering what other people's thoughts were." I fully understand that my last post in the other category could be removed because it had a link to my blog... but this category is titled "shameless blog promotion"... shameless! I don't get why if you think my tags are promoting my blog, that's not ok?
    6. internetrentboy
its not like i added the tag "cookies, food" to randomly draw people in... i started a discussion about prostitution with a link to my blog that is about prostitution in the category that lets you promote your blog.
    7. trailofpen
Wait a minute, the reason he started the post is to promote keywords that would lead them to this very post, to promote keywords that would lead them to this very post, to promote keywords that would lead them to this very post? Do you see the cyclical nature of your logic?
  8. aspotofblog
Yes, he's not experienced with BC discussions. But he's experienced in other ways

      The important ways.

Although I do not actually approve of prostitution and would not recommend this occupation to anyone,I have believed for a very long time that prostitution should be legalized, and that those in the sex trade ought to be paying taxes on their income like the rest of us do. Moreover, I wish to see every sex trade worker have access to frequent medical examination, and where required, treatment.

IMHO the oldest profession is oppression. When women and children are chattels belonging to the rich and powerful, who are predominantly men, they are frequently forced into the sex trade and this has been going on since time immemorial. Those who benefit most from the service aren't the "johns" they are the pimps and brothel/massage parlour/escort services owners and managers.

Some think "we've come a long way, baby". I don't agree. n our "youth obsessed" and "celebrity worshiping" society in North America today what do we see? We see the sexualization of children. They are quickly becoming mere objects. For as long as our societies refuse to actualize when it comes to equal rights for women, including the right to make their own medical and reproductive decisions with their doctors in privacy, this inequity and the oppression will continue.

Today we still find that the majority of sex trade workers are people with serious problems like addiction, alcoholism, homelessness and a plethora of personality and psychological disorders. Many are young women and men who have been sexually abused as children by family members and/or guardians and/or authority figures. The self-righteous ignore these realities and/or look away from those who need help to get into treatment, to re-establish their health, to build some self esteem and to obtain employment training skills.

In addition we are witnessing an active international sex slave trade that is a growth industry. Many young people are being transported from country to country to provide sexual services, primarily to middle aged and older men.

I have also been reading arguments against legalization. Some are weak and some are stronger but the bottom line is that prostitution is not going to stop whether legal or illegal. www.rapereliefshelter.bc.ca/issues/prostitution_legalizing.html
    1. aspotofblog
Agreed. Prostitution should be legalized because prostitutes need more protection. It is a reality that will not go away anytime soon. And why do the prostitutes always get the flack? What about the clients that fuel this business? Prostitution wouldn't exist if there wasn't a market for it.
    2. timethief
I just read TonyB's comments above. He said these threads are going to be deleted and rightly so. I'll start a new one. I'm NOT in the sex trade and I won't be using tags as business lures and compromising the reputation of this site.
    3. internetrentboy
woah woah woah... once again, i am NOT advertising my services. my blog is anonymous. I really truly don't understand why i can't promote my 'gay escort' blog with a 'gay escort' tag in the 'shameless blog promotion' category???
    4. internetrentboy
and putting the whole 'promotions' thing aside haha... Even though I think it's ok, I think the argument that prostitution should continue because it's always existed is flawed. Slavery has been around forever, too. Does that make it ok?

Also, TimeThief, you say "Today we still find that the majority of sex trade workers are people with serious problems like addiction, alcoholism, homelessness and a plethora of personality and psychological disorders."

Do you have research or statistics to back this up? Clearly these situations exist, and I'm not sure that they AREN'T the majority... I can only speak from my experiences. But I think one of the problems is that there are so many assumptions about what kind of people are prostitutes and what kind of situations they must be in. Part of it is the assumption that people have to "sink to a low level" before they would decide to do it... which again, i'm sure some people do. I, however, and many people like me, decide to do it for no reason other than it's viable, high paying work. I'm from a middle class family, college graduate, etc... frankly, if I were truly in money trouble, I could just call up my parents. I'd rather make it on my own, though... and because i'm ok with escorting, i've chosen it as my day job.
    5. trailofpen
I usually hold my tongue in these matters, but all I have to say is, you'll learn to laugh it off after a while. You'll come to undestand what I mean.
  10. DollinNYC
I can pretty much guarantee without even knowing him that internetrentboy is not advertising for business here.
He can walk out the front door of his apartment and find a date within five steps.

Just to show you what Tony is talking about, if you do a search for
    "Gay Escort New York City"

The link below shows up #4 on Google just below Big C--k Society
    www.blogcatalog.com/group/personal-blogs/discus/entry/gay-escort-in-nyc

It makes BC look like a advertising site for gay prostitution in New York. Where they could lose access to google themselves.
That is what Tony is saying.
    1. trailofpen
I doubt Google is that naive, seriously people.
  12. aspotofblog
So then report the thread if it's burning holes into your eyes. Sheesh.
  13. Rozie818
Don't bother me in the least bit.
He could bang anyone he wants to.

But it comes up as advertising for illegal services here in NY.
  14. timethief
I started a new thread that does not contain those tags and is not a blog promotion. If you want to discuss the issues then please feel free to contribute to it.
