I turned to a smooth jazz station by mistake only to discover it is now a Spanish station. Is this the smoooooooooth end of smooooooooooth jazz?

    No, musical cycles around, there'll always be people that like certain styles.

    A very nice smooth jazz album is Teruo Nakamara - Manhattan Special, this is about 30 years old but very nice

      see i would disagree with you there, while i think that the influence on future music will be prominent, i think that from now on music will be manufactured more and more.

      and while people will go to the con and learn this in theory i don't think that it will be a style that is put into practice where it will reach a wider audience.

    I disagree as long as u have parents u have kids. Maybe it won't reach a wide audience,but as long as generations live so does music in the past

    I think that, as more and more on-line radio stations offer specialization, people who want smooth jazz (or any other "niche" genre) will be able to get exactly what they like and artists can find out not only what albums people buy but what songs they listen to the most.

    Are we talking about jazz like Fourplay or like Branford or Wynton Marsalis?
