Is the Rock dead?????

I don´t know what happened with rock music the last years, I mean we don´t have good groups that can keep the line. I followed closely some bands like "The Strokes, Jet, The Hives", etc, they made great hits, but nothing else. They couldn´t keep the line in other albumes.
I said it in other posts and I repeat, I think we are losing the essence of rock, and good composers. With lots of technological effects in studio and new weird styles, I don´t wanna know what gonna be the rock in the future, because we are in 2009, and I can´t find a band to follow. That´s why I made my blog, as we don´t have actual outstanding music, we have to turn to 80 and 90´s music, but with rare versions and concerts. I know people that have good musical judgment will appreciate this effort with good bands and, some of them less known . I invite you to visit my blog and surprise yourself with all these great artists:
soundtracks, live versions, etc : from INXS until Pink Floyd.
Thanks God for giving us the internet for sharing and let know good music for people that maybe never heard about some artist.

Lol, nobody commented anything about the topic. What a world this.
Sorry for disilussioning you ThriftShopRomantic, but I´d consider more valuable if you had no commented anything.
Sorry again.-
Well, the first thing I think many of us learn on the internet is to lose the belief that people will always read ideas the way we intend them, answer the way we wish them to, or necessarily share all of our opinions.
The second thing is, while it does seem fluffier pop music gets the attention these days, I won't opine the loss of rock music because there are plenty of independent acts out there coming up with interesting things each day-- it's a matter of rooting them out.
While prog rock bands-- you mentioned Pink Floyd-- seem to not be in favor at the moment, bands like the Flaming Lips' (for instance their "Yoshimi Versus the Pink Robots") carry on a very similar Floyd-like feel to it.
It's out there. It's a question of looking for it. -
Dynamo, like nearly everyone else in this thread, I believed (based on your grammatical error) that you were talking about Dwayne Johnson. Had TSR not commented, someone else would have.
As to your initial question, music is changing as it always has. Much of today's music is not to my taste, but I don't think that necessarily means that it's empirically of a lower quality than the music I did like.

It is hard to say...In my opinion the best rock bands were from the 60's and 70's...Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin etc...
The rock music of the 80's was somewhat lame in comparison...
Yet in the 90's Nirvana, Soundgarden and bands like Metallica created great rock music...
Presently Rock bands like AC/DC and Kiss are still the top concert draws...
Hopefully somebody new will come along that can combine the great lyrics of Rap with the great music of Rock... -

I think rock, like other music is simply taking a different direction. You can't expect music to stay in one period, or everyone would be singing like Elvis today or swooning over a microphone like Holiday. Rock has taken several forms and most bands that are hot are simply underground. I suggest you hunt around and not look on MTV for "current" music.
