the north pole is now an island. first time in like a hundred thousand years that's happened. hurricanes and typhoons are running wild. we are using up all of our natural resources. the ozone and green house gases. sun spots. nuclear war. second coming of christ. giant comet hitting us like in the movie "deep impact, or Armageddon" the mayan prophesy. the homelessness situation. reality tv.

I think these are all signs of the end of days. America will fall just as rome did. I think the end of the world will happen in my children's lifetime. Your thoughts?

I think the world won't end now, well, at least not while I'm alive. I mean, It's been here for thousands of years so it can wait 'till I die right?
    1. bloggernoob
probably, but, i think that we will have a huge population correction soon. the human race is damaging our green earth.
    2. Darkblaze37
Yeah, but who are we to stop it? If you see things more closely, every little thing that can change the world gets shot down on sight. Example: I've seen big companies showing off electric cars just to kill production the next year or just disappearing it from the market. I don't think the wellness of our planet is in the hand of the everyday people
    3. bloggernoob
yup. there is a great documentary about it called "who killed the electrical car" great movie. I think the biggest problem is America. We are a fat and lazy bunch. Our leaders are idiots and the media has us brain washed and programmed to not care. "reality tv, fox news"

damn shame. i used to take pride in being an American. Now i just want to move to canada.

The world did not end when Rome fell. Nuff said.

Maybe the world Ended a while ago... We just didn't cared enough to notice.

Well, yes one day, how it will end is the interesting question!
    1. Darkblaze37
      Just wait and see
  4. DaVincisBlogLog
I think it will end and probably sooner than we think
  5. Shelives2write
Weren't we supposed to die in 2000? I really doubt it- at least in this lifetime.
    1. bloggernoob
good point. and i think jesus was supposed to come in 1992. i think we are safe. but i speak for my unborn children. as you know. the children are our future. we should teach them well and let them rule the world. we gotta show them all the beauty that the possess inside.
    2. Nomadic
There's me thinking the whole jesus thing already happened.
    3. Friday13
Maybe the world already ended, and we're caught in an eternal dream ... or nightmare.

      Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!
  6. Theresa111
    No. Because no one knows.

The universe is sinusoidal wave. The world will reach its peak, then it'll return to nothing and then back to its peak and so on. It'll never end. Not in this life, not in the several next either. There's less than 20 years more of oil reserves left in this world though. That'll probably be the mark of noticable downfall..

    Good luck.. lol
  8. xmarks
    Yes!!!!

It will be interesting to see how differently CNN vs MSNBC vs. FOX report it though.

You said "the north pole is now an island. first time in like a hundred thousand years that's happened"

Not sure where you're getting that idea, but it's false. North Pole has never had a land mass of any sort and is in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. Matter of fact, the nearest land mass is Kaffeklubben Island of Greenland.

As far as the world ending, yes, it will happen.. it's anyones guess as to when or how.
    1. bloggernoob
not a land mass. im saying the block of ice is now an island. it is actually great for millionaires in the shippping industry. they now have a faster route.

Humans are arrogant. If every human on the world started to die off at a rapid rate, we would be screaming, "It's the end of the world!"

There's a chance the world will be here a long time after the human race is gone, and there's a chance that the human race (or rather, whatever the human race evolves into) will be around long after our planet is destroyed. I like the latter idea; call me an optimist.
  14. dosox
    Optimist..

    I defer to 2 lines from Douglas Adams' "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Just replace "the universe" with "the world";
"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea."
"There is a theory that states: 'If anyone finds out what the universe is for it will disappear and be replaced by something more bizarrely inexplicable.' There is another theory that states: 'This has already happened....'"
  17. Educationblogs
This post reminds me of George Carlin's famous comedy sketch about the Earth. His thesis--it is the height of arrogance for humans to think that they actually matter in the grand scheme of things or that whatever they do will really impact the earth's multi-billion year evolution.

In the short term, yes. The world can end. The world Man has created. In the great scheme of things, no. There are greater things better than ourselves. It's not all about us.
  18. Thoughts
I definitely think that something somewhere is coming to a close. I believe in the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ, and everything that is happening around the world-financially, politically, socially, naturally- it's all prophesied in the Bible!

It also says in the Bible that someone is going to come out and "fix" everything, and there will be a few years of total peace, and then there will be sudden destruction, and it will be the end.

So I think that the next president of the U.S.A will be the one to come out and "fix" everything. Then for a few years, everyone will praise him, then the end will come! :-)

    Teehee! :-)
    1. MarkPogue
The prophecies written by Nostradamus are more accurate...depending on one's perspective.
  19. jadedconformist
We'll die off before the world ends, but maybe we'll be replaced by other lifeforms that are much more adaptable to the environment.

The sun is about halfway through its life as it is. (Don't worry, it still has several more billion years to go.)
  20. RTBjr73
The world was here before us, and it will be here long after we are gone. The world will shake off mankind like we shake off a bug on our sleeve.
  21. bloggernoob
the scary thing is that our world has been without us for most of its life. Humans do have only recently become a part of our green earth. Yet, in our short stay, we have managed to effect the natural evolution of our planet. We are responsible for the huge hole in our ozone. We are using up most of the natural resources for energy. It really is a damn shame. The worst part is that most of us are not even aware of this. Or worse, we do not care.

If there is a god ( i don't believe there is) he or she should judge us right to the center of our earth.
  22. myriadlife
Seriously, I have enough to worry about, if it ends it ends. End of!
    1. bloggernoob
yeah, if it's going to end, there really is much that humans can do. we are so little compared to the whole of the universe. for some reason, I usually fear death, but i do not fear death if it is a global event. i guess i fear the idea of dying alone.
  23. tealcatfan
No I don't think so I think we need to find ways to be a bit more responsible for Mother Earth

The world will end some day, but not tomorrow.
  25. bradhart
the sun will eventually blow up.
    1. urikalish
It won't blow up, it will turn into a red giant.
    2. bradhart
Okay lets rephrase the sun will eventually become so massive it will destroy the inner planets in a great cosmic fart. Either way the earth will be bereft of life, run down the galactic curtain, shuffled off its mortal coil, blown to bits, melted, singing with the bloody choir invisible, in other words no more. The earth will be an ex planet!
    3. urikalish
One theory claims that the Earth will first shift to a higher orbit since the reduction in the Sun's mass before the final inflation and escape death by fire - but will probably suffer death by ice...
    4. bradhart
I have heard the theory, I just don't see any credible math or science to back it up.
  26. MarkPogue
If the world ends it will be because Muslims and Christians were trying to win a Holy War.
    1. amtelemarket
There's not such thing as a "holy" war.
    2. MarkPogue
      @ antelemarket

Okay..."Jihad" for the Muslims and "Crusades" for the Christians.
Either way...the two most violent and invasive religions will wage their war because of fabled prophecy. Both profess that their brand of god is one of love, but yet have killed millions proving it!
    3. amtelemarket
Sorry Mark. Didn't mean to sound like an smart-ass
Just wanted to say that even though countries or kingdoms rulers want to make a war appear as "saint" or "holy", they are like every other war, originated by greed. The adjectives are used only to legitimate killing, rapping and robbery.
  27. fated82
Nah, the world won't end. God created the world and its going to be an insut if he let humans end it. If need be, God will end it himself as he have proven it.

But I am interested to know Einstein's prophecy of a fourth World War being fought with sticks and rocks.
  28. rfburnhertz
If anyone figures out an exact date for the end of the world, please let me know so I can setup and email alert on my Google calender.

I don't want to be taken by surprise.
    1. Friday13
      February 30th.
    2. rfburnhertz
      Feb 30th 2009?
      Not much time.

Bradhart, 40%? Where did you get this?
If you have a link I'd like to see it, not because I don't believe you I've just never heard such a stat.
    3. amtelemarket
Somebody is making fun of somebody else
  29. bradhart
If you really want to worry over something be worried about the 40% of americans who believe jesus will probably return in their lifetime. Be vary scared of the one in five people sure he will return in their lifetime and think we should be doing more to prepare for the rapture.
    1. bloggernoob
i remember in 1992, there was a pretty large Christian sect in South Korea that believe that Jesus was coming. Damn crazies. To think, i used to believe in rapture and all that nonsense. Religious brainwashing is a powerful thing.
    2. bradhart
any belief that will allow you to believe contradictions without question is not only powerful but frightening.
  30. jackpayne
This whole subject reminds me of the old saw: Never go to bed with anybody crazier than you are.
  31. Sway
What is end?? Yes, in another 3 billion years the Earth's molten core will stop turning and the planet will die. In 4 billion years the sun will grow in size and consume the Earth. In 6 billion years the sun will shrivel up and grow very dime and every place left in the system of Sol will get very dark and cold. So yes Planet Earth will end! There is no doubt of this fact.

Well, as Benjamin Franklin said: Nothing is certain but death and taxes.
    1. bloggernoob
i think that quote should be updated. death, taxes, insurance, wars, religions, corruption. list goes on and on. there are a lot of certain things in our world.

what do we have dueling messiahs going on here? lol

  49. bloggernoob
we should also consider that the would will end for everyone. When we die, the world as we know it will die on a personal level. why is it so scary to die as a collective. like deep impact/Armageddon style?
  50. 71mm0
    Sure! Just wait and see..
    This world isn't "immortal"..
    So many facts about that..
    War, forest destroyed, n more..
And the most important, that case coused by human self..

PS: sorry for my bad english.. I just want to say something.. I'm still learning english
    1. bloggernoob
no worries. your english is fine. i think we are starting to realize that we are making a big impact on our earth. hopefully, the next generation is more responsible then us.
  51. ravenslooking
after another 200 years I feel - the process will start
    1. bloggernoob
i think the process started already. the past generation didn't have to deal with sustainability. we are faced with that now as far as land, energy, and natural resources. we are also creating a lot of damn trash. have you guys visited a trash land fill? it's huge. I went to one, that was bigger then disneyland.
  52. Financialnut
    It'll end.

But when that will be? Not sure.

  57. Friday13
It's supposed to end on February 30th, but we just keep skipping that day every year!
  58. PearlTrader
Yes,there is no doubt in it! The world has to see an end.But we are not given the knowledge when it is going to end.Only the Creator knows its exact time.We human's have brain, intelligece, wisdom, thinking power, fighting power, medical knowledge, inventions etc. Many other qualities we have more than any other creature on the face of the world but we still cant stop a just single persons death. We can create nothing out of not nothing. There is One who created the worlds and He is our God,He has informed us in the last book (The Holy Quran)that he revealed on His last messenger that "All that is on earth will perish."So there is no doubt in it that the life of this world is heading towards its end ,and then there is going to start the endless life.
  59. rodonja

The world isn't going to end. It's going to do just fine without us.
  65. gramoftruth
The world is not the earth -- the earth, as a living organism, evolves just as everything alive does. The world which humans manifested through our imagination will definitely change. Will it end? Critical mass change will cause it to dramatically end as we know it, and through time it will manifest into another kind of world. Excuse me if i'm sounding like a prophetess because i'm not! Some things just make good sense is all!
  66. idealpinkrose
yes, but we don't know when. It could be hundred of years later or tomorrow. No one knows except HIM. So be ready!
