Our petite cousin Marina who, alas, lives in Germany, claims it has become impossible for her to find shoes small enough for her. She is so paranoid, she believes this is a conspiracy amongst big women to sabotage her looks. Do you have words of support, advise, or contempt for her? Read her silly story here:

Hi. I've left a "powerful" comment. I enjoyed the article, and you're right, it would have been fine even if I was hungover.

    Conspiracy? No.

But I do believe that women who fall to the extremes of sizes (small and large) will have a problem finding proper things to fit them. I have large feet for a woman (size 10) and shoe shopping is never fun for me. So, I just deal with it.

I am the same as you, in the UK its 7.5. I hate shoe shopping!

I have a friend who wears size five shoes, and she does have issues finding them. I don't think it's a conspiracy for her, though, anymore than it's hard for me to find jeans that are long enough because I'm tall.

I read an article once on how much in-store merchandise ends up going back to manufacturers because they aren't popular sizes. The manufacturer then ends up selling to places like TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but it still ends up being a loss for them. Which is why folks with uncommon sizes unfortunately are a little neglected.

I don't know about shoes but sizes for clothes are definitely harder for smaller people. I have to pay $80 for pants where I live cuz all the cheaper, or average places don't carry anything smaller than a 6.

Many thanks, everyone. All extreme sizes should lobby for a fairer treatment!

    Unite and take over!

crkian: when you grow up you may get to look like something rounder. Enjoy.

kab625: we haven't found your comment anywhere, it was so powerful it shot straight to Mars.

Ha ha! Here is is: She is experiencing the result of a trend. I think women's feet have gotten larger, so small shoes are hard to find. I've actually shopped for casual shoes in the children's department, buying the largest girl and even boy sizes. It creates an entirely new fashion statement. No high heels though unless you look in the boys' cross dressing section. (lol)

Yes, sorry, your comment is there. We didn't notice. Your name is not Dysxelia-friendly.
