Not that I want to kill myself...
But I was talking with my doctor and he told me that there's not a good reason for suicide. I thought about it.

Of course, I'm not talking about the point of view of this person... Obviously, for that person, if he commits suicide, it's for a good reason.

But can you imagine a acceptable reason to attempt suicide?

Spare me the "who Am I to judge...bs" please.

Is deadly cancer could be a good reason?

Not for most cancers. Most cancers kills painless, with only a gradual increase in fatigue until finally you don't have energy to live, accept the time that you have and be with good friends and family.

ok I cant think of any that comes to mind but I have seen it alot. We had one lady attempt it several times a week for attention. I just dont think i would do it for anything not even cancer. If I had cancer and knew I was dying I would want to spend all the time I had with my family.

IMO, there's only one - selfishness.

Some peoples lives are just really crappy and think they would be better off dead. Thats reason enough for me

No, that's reason to change your life. If you're willing to kill yourself, to destroy everything, then at that point you have no limitations left on what you can do. Sacrifice anything and do everything your own mind can imagine. If it kills you, at least you'll die with your boots on, which is a heck of a lot better then dying as some pathetic sob dangling from a noose with no dignity and no self-respect!

They are just sick, that's it. I think GOD forgives them to if they are sick.

If it will somehow save the world from it's own destruction, then yes, it's absolutely ok.

The only good reason to kill yourself is either a) to prevent a sickening and horrible death that won't take long anyways (like being shot in the stomach, not like a deadly cancer),

or b) as a sacrifice, like the USMC officer in Afghanistan whose platoon was surrounded on all sides so he threw himself out of their fortifications with his M-16 set to full auto and blasted 94 Afghanis out of existence before finally being shot himself, creating a valuable hole that allowed his whole platoon to escape, him as the only casualty, saving the lives of 50 wonderful fighting men and women.

No, there is never a reason to attempt suicide. I believe suicide is always a completely selfish act. Almost every religion in the world teaches against worshiping self.

I heard a famous entertainer say the only thing that stopped him was when he heard his grand kid playing. And I have heard similar stories from many others. A person must care about something or someone other than self.

To save many others I don't think that would be suicide.

What about in the case of mental illness, when a person is not thinking logically? Do you hold them accountable for "selfishness" in addition to the issues they already have?
