After flogging your guts out blogging, networking, staying up late writing and generally being tied to the computer 24/7, do you ever think "Is there a point to all this?"
I'm not necessarily talking about making lots of $$$ (if any!) but do you sometimes feel like you're spending too much time and energy on your blog? What is your reason to carry on?
And if you've figured out the meaning of life too, just pop it down here.

I don't feel like I'm doing any of that stuff, LOL. I probably do spend more time online now than I did before I had a blog, but prior to having a blog I just spent that time watching TV ... so ... this is better.
It's just a hobby and I enjoy it. And I actually spend more time in my real life than I do with my blog ... so it's a pretty good balance. -

I get carried away sometimes - and I wonder the same thing. i think to myself well the hell am I researching thus and such whatevers to use as a blip n my blog post? I could be painting, eating, having sex...
And other times I am more balanced, and it doesn't bother me so much

I actually just attempted to read the post on his blog, which contained a lot more words but no more sense.
Anybody know--beyond the obvious substance abuse--what this guy's problem is? -
For me I think I'm blogging for the future of humanity and anyone who reads my fragile but magical words will instantly be transformed into a lottery winning super creative with ideas to burn and a sexual record to envy.

I find it increasingly time-consuming to manage all the various limbs of my ever-expanding inter-net empire, but on the plus side I have been recently squiring a rather delightful lady about town, who's interest in my noble self was piqued my fine web-journals.
Truly, it has made it all worth while. -
There is no objective purpose, only subjective purposes. I don't get bored blogging, I just stop and do something else like work on a song, or a piece of art, poem, go out, whatever. I have been working on a site\blog that displays my songs and field recordings in an organized manner, and allows them to easily be played. Check it out - www.travisjmorgan.com/sound

I guess it comes down to whether or not it beats the alternatives. If I could honestly say that I would be out trying to solve world hunger or curing diseases or writing the next great novel if I weren't blogging, it would be hard to justify.
But if the alternative is TV, well, that's a little easier. -

The only time I really take a beating is when I've worked so hard on something - and someone comes along and just shoots it full of holes. It's then that I seriously debate throwing my hands up and just walking away. I don't take criticism well, and rarely view it constructively - call it a personality flaw. But when (for example the one listed here) I'm doing all the work on a blog for free, presenting the info for free, and have nothing to gain - it just gripes me when someone "critiques" it and goes out of their way to point out weakness or flaw.
I'd be a lot more open to suggestions of what was GOOD and positive stuff. Basically I'm just getting sick of drama. There's days when I just want to scream - if you don't like it... click away, click away! Far away. LOL You know? -
At this point in my life, I don't have much else to do, so it's all good !
I know I spend way too much time on the net, but I don't have children, I don't have a job atm, my house is reasonably tidy and tea is on the table every night lol. I'm in pain most of the day/night, so it's a welcome distraction and relief !
I don't do it for the money (altho it would be great to make a few dollars from my Ads I admit), and I'm certainly not doing for the fame LOL -
I spend a lot of hours on the computer, working on my blog. I am retired and have other things to do, but it has become a challenge to get my blog going in the right direction. I hope someday to make a little money at it.
My wife thinks I'm nuts, but you learn a lot and you meet some neat people.
I don't look at it as a waste of time. There are other less constructive ways to waste time.
