Generally speaking, women believe that a woman intuition is never wrong. I believe there is no such thing as woman’s intuition... if there is wouldn't women be able to use their intuition to predict that from the very beginning that the guy is not a good guy, or make the right decisions about her career , money, hair, makeup or what stocks will do better than others. If women had “female intuition" wouldn’t they be the happiest people on earth, because their “intuition” would lead them in the right direction all the time..... Or does a woman's intuition only work for one purpose and that is to know whether or not a man is cheating?

Funny--I just saw that line in another thread and was about to go off about what a ridiculous statement it was.
    1. Diggidee
why is it a ridiculous statement?
    2. MadameX
The statement in the other thread was that if you're questioning whether your partner is cheating, that's the first clue because "women's intuition is never wrong". The world is full of women with bad judgment just like it's full of men with bad judgment, and many women (just like men) suspect their partners of cheating more because of their own histories and hang-ups than any basis in reality.

in the other thread i was replying to someone specific not to the discussion question. do you think women had "women intuition"?
    4. MadameX
I didn't see your comment in the other thread. I saw someone claiming that "women's intuition is never wrong" and then saw this thread.

No, I don't believe that all women have intuition, or that intuition is particular to women.

If there is, mine is broken.

I suppose it's like following your gut?

I guess that ends this thread then.

      Sorry-- couldn't help myself.
    3. Diggidee
how did you know i was going to ask the quesiton?

"Generally speaking, women believe that a woman intuition is never wrong. "

really! Where did you hear this? How come nobody told me?
    1. MadameX
You were supposed to sense it.
    2. jafabrit

    Intuitively speaking, I'd say "maybe".
Practically speaking, I'd say I have my doubts.

Let me refine my line above:

Intuitively speaking, I have my doubts."

      ------------

"I like that," the Muse said. "More precise. To the point."

"Thank you," the Artist said. He intuitively knew the previous wording was too wordy. He was pleased the Muse was pleased.

there are some people (male and female) who are very perceptive and can pick up on things that others may miss, call it gut instinct, a hunch, intuition if you wish. Some can develop those skills (for example cops) as part of their job either through training or from experience.

Honestly, I believe every person has intuitive powers. Maybe it's that heightened senses have the ability to perceive something the mind cannot fully grasp.

As a parent, I will say there have been times when I sensed something dangerous was going to happen and my body reacted to it faster than I could have possibly been capable of processing & telling it to. For me, that's intuition... like Spider-man's 'spider sense'.

As for women having an internal cheat-o-meter... nope. I don't buy it.

When men wanted to deny women had any rational intelligence they used to say they have "intuition." It was a kind of consolation prize. But I think most of us, men and women, are boobs about most things, and are constantly getting bonked over the head by experience.

Mine works perfectly! I even made use of it in the university.
And, of course, it doesn't matter - man or woman.

since we're built in different ways with different evolutionary goals, I believe our minds can be different, women tend to be more analytic in order to select well their future partner, so the intuition may be something like that...

Did you know that (most) women are more instinctual than being rational ?

I'm saying this not because of gender discrimination, or gender stereotyping, but naturally women are supposed to fulfill the role of motherhood.

Of course, there are some exceptions to the rule, but the whole point is that, women generally do have certain qualities and inclinations for certain skills that are supposed to fulfill their intended "natural roles".

And to some extent, that also includes the skill of perceiving if a man is a total bastard or a potential life partner..... or somewhere along those lines.
    1. jafabrit
I would argue that instinct is borne or a rational evaluation of past experiences, awareness of the environment, reading of body language and that doesn't seem to be unique to one gender.
    2. IntoTheAzureSea
I can't argue against that. And your point makes sense, though I was explaining my perspective in the natural biological scientific context.

Anyway, I'd prefer to just let things be as they are, no point arguing over just to be right.
    3. jafabrit
But isn't even the biological context borne out of a prior experience (albeit unconsciously) that informs the body to trust or not trust something? I would think that is the same for both genders, although sometimes I think some are gluttons for punishment and ignore their intuition and fall the same bastard (male or female).
    4. IntoTheAzureSea
      Hmmmmmmm maybe.

I think people relying on their intuitions is not ethically justified, imagine the girl who thought he was cheating on her relied in her intuition, she would wrongly accuse him...we need justification for our beliefs and a woman's intuition is no justification.

I read the title as "Is There a Such Thing As a Womens institution?

further proof that I should be in one.

I do believe in intuition but not that it's gender specific.

I think all humans can develop intuition but they have to find the way to develop it

"Intuition" is a mystical description of the fleeting moment when common sense prevails...
