Is there anything more fundamental than life?

Can there be anything more fundamental than life itself? The word 'life' and the phrase 'force of life' are interchangeable in my opinion, because life is self sustaining, self propogating.
Relying on the biological perspective is fine, but I request the participants to step beyond the biological paradigm for this discussion.

I also believe it should be possible for us to harness energy from surroundings (the sun) DIRECTLY, and not rely on food for energy.
I believe it is possible, and that we need to evolve a bit before we can do such things.
The movement I mentioned in my last post - such movements are an attempt in this direction. -
If we need to evolve a bit and it cant be done yet then surely life for humans isnt substaining. Eventually we all need to eat or drink.
