Sometimes my doctor asks me this and I just say no; but I really don't know. Are you allergic to anything?

Hi
I am allergic to anything with iodine in it (which includes eating fish), and being stung by bees.
I am also very sensitive to many things (but not as full on as being allergic) eg, cigarette smells, perfumes/house cleaning sprays, most medications affect me in some way, and unfortunately most flowers, and some plants
Many years ago I used to own horses. and was so allergic to their food (Lucerne chaff/hay mostly), that I had to end up having a couple years of desensitizing injections, so I could still keep them

I always thought that allergies were a sign of moral weakness. Then I developed one myself
After 12 months of sharing an office with two other people, both of them HEAVY smokers, I could never stand near a smoker again -> headaches, ear aches, affected vision and a sore throat. Even butted out cigarettes in an ashtray gives me a sick headache, these days.-
This makes me laugh, because I always thought allergies were the sign of neurotic and overprotective parents. My best friend growing up was allergic to milk, wheat, chocolate, cats, dogs, shellfish, pollen, dust, spinach, hot water and had asthma. I was convinced that it was because her mom was crazy overprotective.
Now, I know allergies are real, but to this day, think her allergies were more psychosomatic.
I have hay fever, asthma, and am allergic to dander. For some reason though, I am not allergic to my cat. Zero reaction.

I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide.
A funny thing is I didn't know I was allergic to it for the longest time, even though I kept having reactions. I would use a moisturizer with it and my entire face would become this one big scabby, swollen, itchy rash. Two months later, it would happen again. I had maybe five outbreaks before I made the connection. Or rather my doctor made the connection and told me to stop using things with benzoyl peroxide! -
I had allergies when I drank alcohol a few years ago. But now, it seems like alcohol agreed to me so I don't get any allergies even when I drink much.

I don't have any severe allergies...but I have plenty of allergies that give me a rash, make me sneeze etc.
Pollen
Soap
Milk
cheese
Egg-white
coconut
alcohol (perfumes)
water (the chlorine and calcium traces in tap water give me blotches when I shower)
metal (except gold and platinum)
chlorine
copper sulphate (discovered this in chemistry class)
wool
most cosmetics
biological washing powder
washing up liquid
dust
cats
horses
dogs
...and probably more that I can't think of! -

Quite right! My parents used to say that no child would ever develop allergies if they enjoyed plenty of fresh air and lots of swimming in the open ocean. A chlorinated swimming pool would not do. -
- chocolate, the purer stuff not the watered down mostly chemical buy it while in line at the grocery store type.
- my ex-husband. probably his eye killing cologne but I think it could be his personality that makes my throat swell up and my eyes swell shut whenever I'm within 3 feet of him.
- bee/wasp stings -
Actually I do not know but my children are. The latest one being the most affected. It seems it is a growing trend.

I'm allergic to:
Dust
Most pollens
COTTONWOOD - extremely
Fireweed pollens (although fireweed honey doesn't bother me)
Quinine Products
Phenylalanine Products
Walnuts
Certain Cat Dander (some cats don't bother me - others do)
BEES
I wish allergies were of the imagination - unfortunately for me - they can be deadly. The invoke horrid asthma attacks and welts and hives. Bees are deadly for me. (NOTE: I've been stung by several bees - 3 out of 4 stings were deadly reactions - 1 had no reaction. Doctor made an offhand statement that I may be allergic to the pollen types that particular bees collect... Me - I'm not so keen on trying to figure it out... )
I am currently on Prednisone - NASTY stuff - but I can breathe - so miraculous as far as I'm concerned.
I also live a lot on Benedryl - which SUCKS - big time.
I also take Singulair - and other asthma products - I don't have bad lungs - just allergies swell my lungs/esophagus and lining to the point that it makes it difficult to breathe.
My daughter is only allergic to Penicillin so I am VERY thankful I didn't pass down my rotten immunities and Allergies.
Strange notation - not medical knowledge:
I had to take Interferon Alpha2a and Ribavirin for over 6 months for chemotherapy and was deadly ill. After that it seems that my immunity system shut down and I'm now more PRONE to allergic reactions than ever before.
So I'm assuming your immunity system is what regulates or at least helps regulate your allergies. -
Watermelon and chestnuts. For years my throat would itch like crazy after eating them, then (thanks to Google) I found out it's actually an allergic reaction. Nothing deadly, just incredibly irritating.
And pollen. One tiny pill a day and I'm good, but I live in a dry climate so it's not usually a problem. -
Ugh...too many things. I had a series of allergy tests run at Mass General Hospital many years ago and turned up allergic to 3/4 of the things they tested me for. Few food allergies, but pollens, molds, animal dander, numerous drugs, etc. etc....and a deadly allergy to bee stings.
I have just had to learn to live with the restrictions these allergies impose on me because I develop a tolerance to the antihistamines and other drugs and then they don't work when I have a really bad attack.
Allergies suck. -

The last time I had an allergy was when I visited my mom and feasted on an omelet. Too late when somebody told me it was lobster omelet.
I had terrible patches and started to have difficulty in breathing.
I had to be hospitalized for 2 days.
Honestly, that omelet was the best tasting food I ever had.

sulfar drugs and sulfar by itself. And they ask due to people having really bad allergies. I have had a patient that had allerigies to latex and she would swell up like a balloon if touched with it. She came into the ER unconcious one night and i happened to be there to tell them. They had to give her an epi shot along with her other problems. So it is a good idea if you have an allergy to et a medalert braclet or card to carry with you. It helps people like me to know what could be worng with you.

I am allergic to some cats and pollen. One time I had to go to the emergency room. My throat started constricting and my lips were swelling. They asked me the usual quesitons and asked what I did that day. I said I cleaned a basement, so they checked me for bug bites and found none. They had to give me adrenalin to get me breathing right again. Earlier that day I laid down on a carpet that had just been treated with a product called Carpet Fresh. The doctors concluded that was what caused my very bad allergic reaction. Since then, I have talked to others who had the same reaction to that product.
