Reincarnation. I believe there so much for God to teach us, we cannot learn it all in a single lifetime.
  2. DeathSweep
I know what I would like to believe, I know what I was taught to believe, I know what the majority of the world believes...but...I really have a hard time believing (not wishing) that there is any concious afterlife on an individual level. Maybe our souls go on to the people around us, to the people we touch in our lives. Sort of an everlasting rather than reincarnation. Perhaps we grow and evolve by taking on the souls of others. This is a tough question.
    1. purpleladycentre
Interesting.....maybe one day scientists will prove it - they have now come to the conclusion (well some of them that healing works, oops I could have told them that many moons ago). Maybe it is a tough question, but well worth a discussion
    2. ghostytwofish
That's an interesting take. A conciousness pool, of sorts. I see no reason not to take such a position; conciousness as we define it is a mind thing, and the mind dies with the body. It's not unfathomable.

I see you've read my latest post...

There is either life or there is the second death after death. We will all participate in one or the other.
  5. FlyingFader
Is there life before life? Where were you before you were born?
  6. MrMephisto
    Yes. Next question. =)
  7. abitw
I've written something about that in my blog . Here you are:

My son was killed on May 19, 2007 and I am curious about this too. I would hope that reincarnation is true, that boy had enough love to make the world a better place. Gaje was six years old when he died and full of spirit. You can visit his blog at memoryofgajejeffereyflorence.blogspot.com/ This blog gives the details of what happened and how it has changed our lives. We are set for trial on September 24,2007.

Have you read Courageous Souls - Do We Plan Our Life Challenges Before Birth?
You can read a chapter of it at www.courageoussouls.com/about_book.htm
I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I visited the beautiful blog you made for Gaje and tears came to my eyes.

We are all one ... with the universe ... we are all the same energy ... we assume different shapes and forms ... a never-ending transformation. If you become still you will feel your bodies vibrations.

Since I'm coming from a different direction than it appears that you-all are: I'm not sure if my input will be all that welcome. Please let me be wrong. Anyway: be assured that the end of our lives in this world is most certainly not meant to be the end of any of us. I hope you-all will have a look at what I have been given to say at: AsTheCrackerheadCrumbles; and I hope that you-all will be allowed and enabled to see that I am not coming from the same old "stuff" being spread (albeit: mostly inadvertinly) from most Christian pulpits.
    1. ghostytwofish
Your opinions are welcome, especially since you have uttered the magic phrase 'please let me be wrong'. Takes a big person to say that. But since this isn't the Shameless forum, why not just spit it out here?
  11. robinj
Whether there is or isn't an afterlife....and being a Medium I am sorta leaning towards the latter :o).......it is this life we will leave our greatest mark so its this life that I will immerse myself in totally
    1. purpleladycentre
Hey! Your a medium. I know there is a spirit world and so do you, but I agree it is this life which is important at the moment and what we can bring to it,
  12. neoauteur
I would rather focus on the life I'm currently enjoying than what comes after.
  13. dharmagypsy7
I kind of take a scientific approach to life and death.

Energy can not be created or destroyed... it can only be transformed.. and we are all made of energy so I do not believe that death is end all to things...

Spiritually I believe in reincarnation. I have done past life regressions where I remembered life from the past life with clarity and when I did research, the dates and the events were accurate..

I try not to focus on the afterlife. I try to focus on the present and whatever happens in the afterlife will be. That's probably the yogini in me.
    1. PGWake
dharmagypsy7 reading your words induced an echo here lol, just what I would of said, if you ever fancy doing a guest article or a webpage for me I would love to host it (with a link back of course).

      www.psychicvisions.org (10,000 hits this week)
    2. purpleladycentre
That makes sense to us as we work with energy.
  14. aussiecynic
my simple answer is YES! there it is look no further its simple.....yep that about does it....
  15. playalimon
This is my seventh live and I am very hopefully the next one will be more better, more smooth and more exciting - our body have too much limitations, is made only for an use of around 50 to 80 years (depends to your sensual and intellectual balance), but our personalities (spirits) are free and its not easy to exterminate them - regularly they will find a new home for limited time in a new body. The only problem we have is the fast growing of this free spirits around the globe, because more spirits there are more hotter became the atmosphere and we had to find a way how we can control this!
    1. purpleladycentre
I think I have had more than that, but in truth I have not explored them as I have enough coping with this one at times.
  16. Wordsmith
We have all come from somewhere, so following the same train of thought we are definitely on our way to some other destination.
Our Souls are Energy. The Laws of Energy state that,"Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but it is converted from one form to another, while remaining constant throughout."Our Souls are energy and we have indestructible Souls.
  17. robinj
There is a joke that goes how do you know if you are a Medium ? Its when you are all alone talking to yourself and someone else answers back okay I didnt say it was a good joke :o)
    1. PGWake
It's when you talk to yourself and answer back you gotta worry
  18. awannabe
I believe that when we die the soul goes on, either to heaven or to hell.
We will all be judged on judgement day though.
  19. EdtheEditor
For some people there is no life even before death, which is a shame because I think we get one chance and then we are history - for 3 generations before disappearing forever.
    1. purpleladycentre
They don't even see the beauty around them. Watch a butterfy or smell a rose. Sad isn't it
  20. Cryton
There is life for everyone after death. You either go to hell or to paradise. If you believe in Jesus Christ you will go to paradise and enjoy eternal life with the Lord God. On the other hand, if you deny Christ you will go to help to be punished forever with the devil. However as long as you are alive you have the chance to start a new life in Jesus Christ so that you enjoy eternity with God. Anyone who repents of his or her sins to Jesus Christ qualifies to go to heaven. You can do it. Remember Jesus came to die for our sins. He came for sinners.
  21. aussiecynic
robinj I thought that was the first sign of madness...it goes in Australia... what's the first sign of madness....talking to yourself...whats the second sign someone answering!!!!lol
    1. purpleladycentre
Worse still if you get no answer you know your a loon. Seriously - I thought The adage was "the first sign of madness was talking to yourself and the second was looking for black hairs in the palms of your hands" oops. On the other hand maybe someone knows a different one. That is something for discussion.
  22. bellaragazza
I dont know, some times i think there is but then i have not experienced some thing to believe it.
    1. purpleladycentre
Maybe I am fortunate as I have had a lot of proof and I know life goes on.

I believe that there is life after death. Depending on how you have lived your life you end up in HEAVEN or HELL. Where are you headed?
  24. Liara5
You are headed wherever you decide to go. You may evolve to believe that life and death are only perceptions you create to distract yourself from the truth. What you experience is only part of the picture. Things are happening that you are not consciously aware of at this moment. That is, every human being is an energy being that is always learning and transforming in ways that are seen and unseen. Your physical senses do not begin to tell you what is the deepest truth. Your spiritual side can open your mind and heighten your senses differently. As you choose to open your mind to expand, you learn that you have control over your thoughts and feelings on levels you do not expect.
  25. dosox
When you are death you are death, now death is another thing. It is not you but it is Death that lives.
  26. MarkPogue
Not ONE person knows if there is an afterlife of any kind. All we have is some texts written by nutjobs to support it. The same nutjobs claimed the Earth was flat and that evolution(based on science) is pure lies.
IMO...the idea of an afterlife is pure hogwash, but used in religion as a scare tactic...which works for those willing to follow, rather those willing to lead.
    1. drjay1966
      [wrong spot]

@markpogue "All we have is some texts written by nutjobs to support it. The same nutjobs claimed the Earth was flat and that evolution(based on science) is pure lies.

OK, mostly I agree with you. I wouldn't say the scriptures were necessarily written by nutjobs...the authors were a bunch of goatherds around 4000BCE who probably had two objectives: to explain natural phenomena in terms of their knowledge of the planet (minimal, compared to today); and to form some kind of cohesive bond for their people using threats and promises from an omnipotent, omniscient being who could not be assassinated or circumvented, and would reward cooperation and punish rebellion. Since they couldn't promise punishment for wrong doing in this life, they used the idea of eternal punishment in an afterlife as a threat to potential wrongdoers...and a balm to their victims. "Oh, don't worry, Miriam...even if we don't catch them and poke their eyes out, rip out their tongues and then burn them alive, they'll burn for eternity in hell for their crimes. God will avenge you, even if we can't!"

Generations later we have the nutjobs, the ones who forgot the stories were legends and parables, people who think that because they believe something it must be so. Each generation, like inbreeding, it gets more and more bizarre. Now we not only have flat earthers, we have the Rapturites and people who think vaccines are not beneficial medicines but poisons designed to sterilize their children. We have innumerable bizarre variations and interpretations of a few texts that allow people to feel self-righteous and good about themselves while spreading the evils of disrespect and intolerance and even death and war. THESE are the nutjobs, not those ignorant old goatherds of millennia past.
  27. drjay1966
A more important question, I think, is whether there's meaningful life before death.

Are you making the most of your time on earth, or basing everything on the hope of some perfect existence, or fear of some eternal punishment, after it's over?
    1. MarkPogue
      VERY good point.
    2. drjay1966
      Thank ya, thank ya....
  28. irtiza104
i to believe the soul goes on. i am 50000% SURE about life after death.
    1. MarkPogue
      You know this from experience?
    2. irtiza104
no, i know this from the holy quran...and that is more than a proof for me
    3. SweetViolet
That makes it a belief, not proof.

Until someone has come back from an extended sojourn in the afterlife and can tell us about it, that is all it can be...a belief.

Beliefs are not the same as facts.

no, but is there spirit in life, just kidding id say probably not but that should not impair ones ability to transcend death through um idont know
  32. flamingpoodle
I'm still trying to get a life before death.
  33. kat822
It's nice to see so many different views on this , and with the exception of one person everyone was able to say their opinion with out hurdling insults, hummm seems like it's always the same view that seems the need to do that, but each their own
    my answer, yes I believe
    1. MarkPogue
Maybe you're confusing opposing views with insults?
    2. drjay1966
And "you're going to Hell for all eternity for not sharing my beliefs" isn't an insult?
    3. kat822
no I am not, my point is that there were many different views left here, and yours was the only one that included name calling, it's an observation
    4. kat822
I must have missed that one where exactly is it?

I still don't see it drJay
    5. MarkPogue
And to what member was I calling names?
    6. SweetViolet
      "hurdling insults"???

I hope that was a typo. I get a mental picture of a bunch of runners going around a track leaping over rude words and phrases...
    7. timethief
      @sweetiviolet
      lol ...
    8. Friday13
      Like this?

    9. SweetViolet
      @Friday13

      HAHAHAHAhahahahaaa! EXACTLY like that!!
    10. Friday13
      I thought so.
    11. timethief
      perfect
Well maybe not exactly perfect. I don't think the member here is concerned about profanity, rude words and phrases because she uses them. I think her concern would be better reflected if the words under the "CENSORED" were changed to "criticism of the Christian perspective".
    12. Friday13
Oh, no no no no. I won't be dragged into this
    13. timethief
      @Friday13
I predict that the right wing politically correct notion that no belief system AKA religion ought to be subject to criticism is in the process of going through a long and painful death in America. And, well it should because in accord with the founding father's intentions, the separation of church and state ought to be vigorously maintained, and promise of freedom of religion ought to be evidenced in that "melting pot" nation.
    14. Friday13
I'm aware of it, and I hope it does. I was just saying that I made my contribution to this thread with the above image
    15. timethief
      @Friday13
      Gottcha.
    16. kat822
doesn't matter the situation has been taken care of
  34. kden
I totally believe in reincarnation. I believe that I have spent previous lives with my husband and daughter. Don't believe in hell either. I think we create that for ourselves here on earth.
  35. tonymas
Yes, most definitely. We keep coming back until we get it right.
  36. earthlingorgeous
Uhmmm why don't you try and tell us...I've been wondering about it for a long long long time now..... ooops just teasing peace!
  37. kdawg68
I am the chosen one. Follow me, my children. Together we will get ALF reruns back on network television, deify Telly Savalas, and solve the age old riddle of "what the hell happened in Leonard Part I through Leonard Part V????"
    1. Friday13
Leonard parts 1 through 5 are just additional opening credits. Strangely enough (or not?), they received better critique.

    Afterlife in Wonka's Candy Factory....duh.
  39. gander1272
I am torn, great question. But, if you reverse it--yes. There is death after life. Unfortunately I am a glass half empty kind of guy. I am a bit selfish and am concerned how I live this life. If there is one, so be it. That kind of stuff lies in hands greater than I can ever imagine.
  40. bradhart
the question is absurd. Life is life, death is death. If life continues after you have shuffled off this mortal coil, shuffling it off can hardly be called death.
    1. earthlingorgeous
      exactly

let's worry about the now not the later

Like a famous local song in here "In heaven (or hell) there is no beer that's why we drink it here"
  41. pamelabaker
One thing is for sure, one day we will all know for sure.
  42. mantiz
maybe yes, maybe no. But i think you gotta forget all that and live your present life to the max. that's what my best friend's life taught me.. he died two days back
  43. TOMDDiary
I would like to think so as what was the purpose of our time on earth?

    JB
  44. sisterofmercy
Well, no sod's come back to tell us what happens, so until they do I think anything happens.
