      Define an Alpha male? Are we talking humans? Animals?
    4. RudrakshRudranjali
      Instead of getting tangled in name and game of definitions,my queries are due to some happenings and deterring values and rock bottom thought process of males today .

      Yes , can you put some light

      I'm not able to comment because I don't know what your definition of an alpha male is. Is this what you mean?

      "In social animals, the alpha is the individual in the community whom the others follow. Where one male and one female fulfill this role, they are referred to as the alpha pair (the term varies when several individuals of the same gender fulfill this role). Other animals in the same social group may exhibit deference or other symbolic signs of respect particular to their species towards the alpha.

      In most species, the alpha is given preference to be the first to eat and the first to mate. Other animals in the community are usually killed or ousted if they violate this rule. This leads to the alpha males and females being overrepresented in some groups in the genetics of a population, because they may become the only ones who breed successfully. ...

      The term "alpha male" is sometimes applied to human beings to refer to a man who is powerful or in a high social position, similar to hegemonic masculinity. It is also used to explain the conduct of several adolescents that compete openly to call more attention, often being hostile and irreverent amongst themselves and towards adults. This is especially true if the adults represent authority. It is sometimes supposed that this conduct originates from the son wanting to be the alpha of his family, group or clan. ...

      Popular media usually represents alphas in animal groups as major decision-makers, rulers, or even kings. In the latter of these, the representation is complete with hereditary succession. In reality, when the alphas die of natural causes, the alpha position becomes open."

      ok let me re frame it ...
  3. RudrakshRudranjali
    ARE WOMEN really from Venus and men from Mars? No, man is from our very own Earth and he is happy being earthy. Actually, man is the finest creation of God. He does not have to be anything else, he is so complete in itself. Man’s traces are required to make a woman complete. Man does not have to show to anybody, “come and see how I make a woman complete.”
    I have read that a woman is selling her virginity on the Net to collect money for her studies. The funniest part is there are many Alpfa men bidding a high price to have the first physical dip in her body. Why is there a controversy over everything? Why do two people, who are supposed to be complimenting each other, live life like opposite ends of a river. Is ego of a person so strong that a man keeps making a mockery of himself and keeps killing himself every day, without even knowing it.
    1. lotusb
      Ok, now I'm convinced you are the most ignorant person on BC at the moment....

      Your generalizing entire genders....which is ridiculous.
      Your using the example of a woman who is using her sexuality,
      as a way to make money. You don't think men every do that? It's
      not a gender thing, it's a morals thing. You must be one of those
      guys who makes his "woman" walk ten paces behind him in public.

      And why are you asking for philisophically mature, and well rounded answers.. Go teach a class somewhere guy, this is friggin Blog Catalog.
    2. RudrakshRudranjali
      thats what exactly i do.... first time using this.... thought of knowing and understanding some more vagueness and read more confusions...
    3. lotusb
      Honestly, you seem to have a need to lecture. Why not just blog about this instead of breaking your opinions into lessons which you proceed to shove down everyone's throat...?
    4. RudrakshRudranjali
      these are some of the traits ..of woman ..why todays alpha males are not happy....1. nagging..without even going down to the subject...chill...
    5. lotusb
      I alwasy find it funny that men like you automatically take "questioning" or "discussion", and because it's in a higer pitched voice than their, refer to it as nagging. I actually kind of think your a nag.
    6. RudrakshRudranjali
      come on...discussions and questioning are always welcome...its not a matter of high or low voice........its not about volume its about depth....
  4. MissSuzie
    Today's "alpha" males have been replaced by today's "alpha" females. Get back behind me scottie.
    1. lotusb
      Lol...good point.
    2. RudrakshRudranjali
      yes pl.elaborate thats exactly my discussion was....what has happened to todays man..why he is not happy... probably you ladies will have better answers.....
    3. MissSuzie
      Today's man is too preoccupied with a woman's body...we have learned this and are now using it to take over the world. Soon, men will be wearing the aprons while we watch football and drink beers with the gals.
    4. RudrakshRudranjali
      you are right ..in a sense...
    5. MissSuzie
      In a sense, I'm always right.
    6. nothingprofound
      What do you mean soon? I've already got an apron on. (You should see my teddy.)
    7. MissSuzie
      Oooooh! I want pictures.
  5. ThriftShopRomantic
    I'm wondering who is saying he's not happy? Are you basing this on your own feelings, observations, or a poll of people?

    Only those parties that are unhappy can explain it. They would know best.
  6. greencurmudgeon
    It depends on what you mean by an alpha male. In the past, they used to talk about Ernest Hemingway being an alpha male, largely because he did mad things like drive an ambulance in World War I, went deep sea fishing, went on safari and drank a lot. Nowadays, "alpha male" has become code words for "excuse for chauvinism". I prefer, by and large, the Hemingway definition: showing an independent spirit, a willingness to take risks, and to savour every morsel that life has to offer. It's sometimes difficult to achieve this what with bills and work and mundane things to do. But you do what you can.
    1. RudrakshRudranjali
      now this is called participation..........ladies....
    2. MissSuzie
      @RudrakshRudranjali: Participation means to participate...which the ladies did. Sorry if you didn't like what we had to say.
    3. lotusb
      @Miss Suzie...
      I don't think anyone of us could have said anything satisfactory...our vagina's automatically make us childish and silly.
    4. RudrakshRudranjali
      I say thanks for your participation..........But it hide less reveals a lot...served the purpose of fielding the question..
    5. cookingasshole
      yeah ladies stop putting on your makeup long enough to answer the questions properly.
    6. RudrakshRudranjali
      this extremism has made the whole world more confused esp. males,
      on one side..A man always respects and loves woman... females either retort to Kali ( indian goddess of valor and power... or absolutely destitute..
    7. lotusb
      @RR,

      So sorry...I sometimes forget that all I'm fit to do is prepare meals and bare children. I've lost sense of my place.
    8. cookingasshole
      now we are getting somewhere...
    9. greencurmudgeon
      @RudrakshRudranjali

      You really aren't paying any attention to what I said - I was defining "alpha male" in terms of seizing life by the scruff of the neck. There are "alpha females" too who do the same thing.

      What I was *not* talking about was gender roles - this is precisely the "code words for chauvinism" I was warning against.
    10. RudrakshRudranjali
      Mr. green , the idea is not of differentiating between Alpha and Beta.... your point is well taken .......
    11. RudrakshRudranjali
      Dear lotus... now you are embarrassing every body....there is no need to put yourself in lighter side.... we always..believe in equality of genders...
    12. lotusb
      Sarcasm must be a notion that is far beyond your perception...
  7. MissSuzie
    @RudrakshRudranjali: "A man always respects and loves woman"

    Hahaha! Not every man does and not every woman is as how you've described above.

    Again, back behind me Scottie!
    1. RudrakshRudranjali
      suzzie....You must be among millions living in a constant state of denial...and confusion..
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
      RR- I think the problem and the resistance you're experiencing to your ideas here involve cultural differences.

      BlogCatalog is filled with individuals-- men and women-- from around the globe. Independent thinkers who got into blogging for a variety of reasons-- and a lot of very independent women, who support themselves, are happy with their careers, love blogging and sharing in new ideas.

      This isn't denial as much as a cultural difference from what you may personally perceive and have experienced. The idea that you might feel we're lesser just because we're female is naturally going to become a source of conflict here.
    3. MissSuzie
      @RudrakshRudranjali: Here's a mirror...I think you need it more.
    4. lotusb
      @RR

      On a serious note. The highest level of ignorance comes from the person who uses blanket statements and generalizations. Your observations could be right or wrong, but they are not fact for everyone and all things. Miss Suzie was simply making the point that you are sterotyping genders. She (and I) are not the ones living in denial.
    5. lotusb
      @ TSR

      Well put!!
  8. RudrakshRudranjali
    I dont understand... why you have made this a forum for discussing gender issues........believe me...culture has nothing to do with this....
  9. lotusb
    I think we got the idea from statments like this:

    "ARE WOMEN really from Venus and men from Mars? No, man is from our very own Earth and he is happy being earthy. Actually, man is the finest creation of God. He does not have to be anything else, he is so complete in itself...." etc...
    1. RudrakshRudranjali
      Oh got your confusions.. what i wanted to say and propagate was..Life is nothing but an opportunity to know self and to love and be loved. If you are alive, the opportunity is there - even to the last breath. You may have missed your whole life: just the last breath, the last moment on the earth, if you can love and be loved even for a second, you have not missed anything - because a single moment of love is equal to the whole eternity of love. and today Man is divided into false personality and authentic individuality. Every man on Earth, who is not in conscious state of his being is schizophrenic; there is no need for any other symptom. It is just the natural, almost natural condition, from being told for thousands of years to be hypocrites.
  10. cookingasshole
    I think the alpha man is super happy because he gets to rule over everyone else like the lead silverback gorilla. If anyone steps out of line he lays the smack down and says 'oh no you don't!' That power is ultimately fulfilling and can only lead to happiness.
    1. RudrakshRudranjali
      alas..........i was feeling so lonely and stumbled amongst this female brigade with arsenals..full..
    2. cookingasshole
      I know...those women are crazy and need to submit to a dominant male.
    3. RudrakshRudranjali
      vow.........me too..its fun... seriousness...........comedy of errors.........vagueness........nonsense.........everything same platform..........guys...loving it.....

      @RudrakshRudranjali
      I am an alpha female (hear me roar) and you are most assuredly NOT an alpha male. IMO your time would be better spent exploring beta and omega profiling.
    10. cookingasshole
      what is with all these strong willed women? has no one broken their spirits? this is what is wrong with the west.
    11. RudrakshRudranjali
      well...point taken lady.......Today’s complication of lifestyle, relationships, rat-race in professional life, excessive pressure situations has brought man to the point where happiness in love, relations, material possession has ceased to exist.
    12. timethief
      Ha! Ha! Ha! You are presenting yourself as an omega ---
      too freaking funny!
    13. cookingasshole
      @TT On a serious note that is a very, very true statement....the one you changed...and now the one below
    14. timethief
      @cooking
      Most of the alpha females I know were broken. They mended. They are strong; stronger by far than any alpha male could ever be.

      Please let me expand on this statement: "Most of the alpha females I know were broken."

      How could they not be "broken" in this paternalistic world we live in, wherein even neutered omega males are frequently given higher status than alpha females?

      If you have a daughter then think about this long and hard.
    15. RudrakshRudranjali
      Thats exactly the reason we respect womans a lot............here in east........we respect and pray them in form of goddess.....
    16. greencurmudgeon
      Devil's Advocate time - is putting women on a pedestal actually a sexist act?
    17. RudrakshRudranjali
      On the contrary todays,Man is divided into false personality and authentic individuality. Every man on Earth, who is not in conscious state of his being is schizophrenic; there is no need for any other symptom. It is just the natural, almost natural condition, from being told for thousands of years to be hypocrites.
    18. RudrakshRudranjali
      Understanding an issues thru contradictory exmples can be misleading....in that sense nothing remain right or wrong.
    19. greencurmudgeon
      @RudrakshRudranjali

      That made absolutely no sense, and not even in the Indian philosophical framework. I suggest you go buy Shah Waliullah's "The Conclusive Argument from God" and read it (available from Kitab Bhavan, Delhi) before you even attempt this subject.
    20. RudrakshRudranjali
      Dear Mr. Green...will definitely..read this.

      If you are going to gnome this or any other thread then please optimize and re size the images first so they fit into a comment box. I'm visually challenged and I give up trying to focus and re-focus in threads full of oversized images. That's why I don't post to any of them.
    23. gtally
      TT - Help! I need better resizing code! I lack the proper coding to shrink to fit. Any suggestions for an alpha-gnomer?
    24. Stillthinking
      @gtally, if you load your images onto flickr, you are automatically given different sizes to choose from.

      You want a maximum size of 500 x 375, which on Flickr is medium.

      All of the following programs are free. If your online image host does not provide image re sizing then any of the following can be used to optimize and re size photos prior to uploading them to your online image host account.

    5. lotusb
      You've stumbled into a massive exchange of ideas and deep philisophical meaning. RR is trying to proove that his ideas are profound, and we are all bowing to his will... Especially us ladies..who are meant only to be worshiped and broken.
    6. RudrakshRudranjali
      so u r back............. i still don't understand why u taking it all wrong...is it due to some astrological differences ........ we never even dream of undermining the value of a woman....
    7. lotusb
      I don't think I was taking anything wrong, I was simply interpreting it as I saw fit. If you want to survive on BC without going loopy, you'll have to adapt to the notion that people are going to see and read into your postings as they see fit, and their perspectives may not always be what you want to hear or what you intended to receive..but perspective is perspective. Welcome to the world of blogging, don't think too hard or you'll miss it.

      @RudrakshRudranjali

      Drivel. You've not issued any statement that is based in any coherent philosophical framework, rather, you've just issued some vague statements about the "value" of women which has no more intellectual merit than a Barry Manilow album.

      There are plenty of great thinkers on the Indian subcontinent; Mohammed Iqbal, the aforementioned Shah Walliullah, etc. Before you claim to have philosophy in your arsenal, you'd do well to try and read some.

    26. greencurmudgeon
      @RudrakshRudranjali

      There's a difference between ego and knowledge. You're entitled to blather on about what a gigantic alpha male you are - it's a thesis that can't be proven or disproven in this context, though I very much doubt that you are.

      However you are proclaiming knowledge that you simply do not have. It reminds me, rather pathetically, of an Indian business colleague who was trying to pick up women after three shots of tequila. You will note that this is failing to work. Don't feel too bad, it didn't work for my business colleague either.
    27. timethief
      Somewhere in the jungle high in a tree an alpha female laughs wickedly at the pathetic omega male with the tiny pee pee clinging to the branches far below her. Then she decides that if he does not cease to annoy she will toss a coconut at his head and knock him out of her tree.

      sorry..Mr.Green so far..i have not propogated any thing...neither claimed any status of being Alpha or Beta......
    29. RudrakshRudranjali
      Mr. Green for ur reference..........this is from Khalil Gibran.....

      Said one oyster to a neighboring oyster, “I have a very great pain within me. It is heavy and round and I am in distress.”

      And the other oyster replied with haughty complacence, “Praise be to the heavens and to the sea, I have no pain within me. I am well and whole both within and without.”

      At that moment a crab was passing by and heard the two oysters, and he said to the one who was well and whole both within and without, “Yes, you are well and whole; but the pain that your neighbour bears is a pearl of exceeding beauty.

      @RR

      Humor, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't find something funny, that doesn't mean that it's NOT. And conversely, just because you find your views intellegent, that dosent' mean that they ARE.

      Either way...More power to all of us who have balls enough to throw something out there!!
