Not limited to bloggers anymore, and with the fast rising popularity of tweeting what you're upto,I'd like to hear from you....

How much has tweeting helped you in spreading the word about your works?
Is it actually bringing you flocks of readers?

my twinions never seem to care much about what I write, I usually get 10 or 15 hits every tweet, I have about 1k followers..

    So far I'm not impressed.

A friend of mine uses twitter also, he gets much more consistant results.. maybe he'll see this and post how he does it.

He puts alot of time into it and really only follows people he thinks are interested in what he does (I just kinda follow everyone).. he also has alot more 'updates' I think thats important also

It is similar to my situations here that I have gathered little photography oriented readership circle. So I am trying to "sreamline" my current audience here
    2. crpitt
Maybe your tweets are a wee bit boring?
    3. dialoguewithyou
codesucker :2k followers is an amazing count in itself
    4. environmentalbooty
I like to follow people in my area health and our environment. I will, however follow someone back if they seem even remotely interesting (which to me, most people are). I have made many wonderful contacts on Twitter (even found a sorority sister 10 minutes aaway from me)so I would give it a thumbs up.

I am new to Twitter. I do announce the link each time I post. How can I tell if someone jumps from Twitter to my blog? What do you use to find out this info?
    1. crpitt
Using google analytics should tell you if you are getting hits from twitter.
    2. codesucker
Lizzy - try cli.gs when you're not so busy

it's a url shortener that will give you stats on your clicks.. use it to keep track of how many people click your twitter links.

I'm not willing to spend my time chatting on twitter so I have no expectation of getting any significant traffic flowing from twitter to my blog.
    1. roentarre
It is absolutely right. A lot of other people are not interested in my individual conversation with a particular member
  4. Rhumperd
I can barely get any readers for the blog. Exactly why would I be adding to the number of folks who aren't listening to me by Twittering too?
    1. JamCan
Yea so far my stats haven't fluctuated wildly like I'd like them to LOL.
  5. camper
Not a breze.. but it's kinda cool

    Not working for me

Many bloggers claim that they receive a lot of traffic from twitter. As I said above in my first comment I have not experienced this, however, I have spent very little time on twitter so I'm not surprised.

I haven't used it to tweet my content that much, I just also recently started to use it though. I have a small following so far, of which I don't know how many are autotweet type followers.

You'll need a pretty big following, or have connections with some power tweeters to really bring the traffic in I think. The same power tweeters usually are power diggers/stumblers/tumblers/del.ic.ious users and have other friends in that category.

Just think of it this way, for every 100 followers 1 person will probably click on your link. If the content was interesting enough they may retweet/stumble/digg your post. Which snowballs into something else.

I have observed the same thing. I witness the same "power people" on twitter as I do on other social networks. Remarkably, some do not blog very regularly at all but they are Digging, stumbling and mixxing and re-tweeting like crazy day in and day out.

Well said. IMO in order to be successful in drawing traffic from twitter to your blog you have to be prepared to build a large following so your broadcast range is increased by the size of the following that each of your followers has.

great info thanks for sharing it here

It's not that effective as driving traffic to my blog. But it is cool in keeping up with other bloggers in my niche.
    1. timethief
I also know other bloggers who use twitter to keep up with others in their niches too. They already subscribe to the niche blogs in question so I guess they use twitter primarily for socializing with other bloggers in their own niche.
  11. lovesome1
I somewhat just started. Its a little confusing and I don't think its working for me=x
  12. newbiesblogger
hmm, I'm not really use twitter and of couse I don't know how it's really work and effect my blog traffic
  13. carsonfb
I've never used twitter, but I don't think that it would significantly impact my traffic.
  14. supergroovygirlie
My hits on my blogspot page has increase by about 500 hits a day. Not as much as I thought it would. Myspace has been a better tool for me.
  15. mitoman
I still havn't found any usefulness in twitter.
  16. harveyavatar
1 in 100 sounds right. Still, it's a good way to keep in touch with people in your niche find new ones.
  17. dialoguewithyou
Twitter has got recent publicity ever since celebrities have started twittering.
But bloggers have been using it since pretty long....I am amazed to see the mixed responses to my questions.

    Keep it coming guys
  18. Carolsue22
I started on twitter and so far not that impressed. it seems everyone is promoting themselves - which is why we are twittering but few are really going to the sites or blogs.
  19. JamCan
I'm monitoring my traffic daily and twitter is definitely contributing now. I'm also a memeber at Caribtweet.com, its related to my content. And I'm getting plenty traffic from them too.
  20. Avellar
I love twitter, it fun cause I get a lot of links to cool information and cool sites. I also share a lot of information with other people and always post about my blog updates.
  21. gosmelltheflowers
Works well for us an dour free flower contests and general new traffic folk:

    twitter.com/flowersmeller
  22. nell79
I didn't think much of twitter to begin with, but it's grown on me. My following is growing (but not all that significant yet), and I have received some traffic from it so far. You can't just make it all about your site and your links though. You get from it what you put into it.

I look for people who might have an interest in my blog material, but I also look for people whose content I might have an interest in, too. Then I let them know if I've checked it out.

I've had some good conversations, found some great sites and made a few friends. All-in-all, I think it's a great tool.
  23. libdrone
I enjoy using it socially to talk to people I already know from other areas online and I am slowly building up a good following among book people which imho enhances my marketability going forward. traffic to my blog is only a very secondary goal for me on twitter.
  24. gtally
The day after I denounced Twitter as a useless tool for small businesses, I had a direct message from a new client eager to do business with me. So I guess I am forced to eat, er--Tweet--my own words!
    1. crpitt
There are lots of wine folk on twitter and travel folk, what type of folks are you following?
    2. gtally
Pretty much wine and travel. And I've started letting people find me. At this point, they search for "wine" or "hotel" and then start following me. I'm gaining about 20 a week. But nothing to touch the 900-ish followers of the almighty crpitt!
    3. crpitt
Gosh she talks/tweets a load of rubbish and has been on there for ages
  25. Ghostingmiranda
I do not think it works for me, I think I have only one follower on that.
  26. superman35
    we dont tweet.
all our followers are google based
  27. Floormodel
    not at all.
But I haven't advertised my blog on it, I just play around on twitter when I'm bored.
  28. gorya
    very working for me
  29. rainforestrobin
I just joined and am still learning about it. But it will either work or drive me crazy. Well, see....
    1. Shiley
I'll have to add you. Drive you crazy at first then it will be all good. If you click on my little icon here you can add me. You don't have one yet.
  30. rajendradhakal
    yes mine is working good
    1. dialoguewithyou
      good luck:)
    1. dialoguewithyou
My blog too has started getting some positive responses from twitter...I hope it continues and grows further
  31. yourfindit
Twitter does not seem to work. I think everyone else is worried about getting their own information out and just ignore others.
Seems like i should stick to blogging and social bookmarking.
  32. MaxHomeBits
A mixed bag for me at the moment, you definitely have to have followers in the thousands and spend at least an hour a day tweeting & re tweeting. It must also come down to where your links are leading to, if there just spammy all the time then you won't get very far, but make them interesting and valuable then you get the plaudits when they get RT.
    1. dialoguewithyou
      very rightly said
  33. FredSr2009
The thing about tweeting is it is so simply anybody can do it: Check this out twitter.com/FredSr2
  34. maccallister
so far i've only seen four people from twitter takes time to read my blog.
  35. sensitivemuse
I use twitter, not sure if people actually click on my links to my post. I try and come up with creative titles to suck em in I figure, perhaps people do visit me and I'd like to think so which keeps me motivated to continue using twitter. However I click on other people's tweets and links. It's a reciprocal thing I think.
  36. gossipbanks
Liked it a lot, just that I'm too lazy to update both my twitter and blog, so I used twitter feeds to update it..
    1. dialoguewithyou
      that's a good idea
  37. Floormodel
I only use it to chit chat and exchange snarky comments so it works great for me
  38. Stillthinking
I have fun with twitter. I recently had to drop some tweets I was following because the tweeter was just too chatty. Too many tweets.
    1. dialoguewithyou
      point to be noted
  39. Sixthessence
Well, it is not for me. Still, I am slowly building a network there
  40. BoNieBoNx
i sitll dont get how ppl find me
    1. crpitt
While your spamming the twitter threads with your 'get a thousand followers spamshit post', don't you think you should read it yourself as you only have erm 60.
    2. MaxHomeBits
You know it can be a real pain getting these twitter BS reply s & tweets. I have come across so many IMs who claim they are super dooper rich, so why bother, just jump on you jet plain and Piss OFF to the Bahamas (-:
  41. Men101
I'm just getting the hang of it. Some people build serious marketing campaigns around it. It can be fun though.
  42. hollywoodchainsaw
I love Twitter. Absolutely love it. Is it bringing me page views? Not at all. I find my Twitter persona is replacing my blog, to be honest.
  43. Sixthessence
Mass following everyone doesn't bring you fellow readers. At all. I am not going to explain this as there are loads of pretty articles about on internet, however this is the reason why some have millions followers and little clicks.

So far, Twitter is just a game and amazing tool to me. I don't drive traffic through my website with it, even if my links get clicked. I don't have a thousand of followers, however the ones that follow me actually do care about what I do (except spambots of course). That's it
  44. MissSuzie
Twitter has brought some traffic and a few new regular readers. It wasn't until yesterday when a sports player retweeted something I had said that I saw a huge volume of traffic.
  45. amybyrd21
I use it for my food forum and it brings in people but as for my blog it has some benifits but not much.
  46. DailyBeerReview
I get a couple of visitors a day from twitter, but I will continue to promote my new posts there anyway. I only have 12 followers, and I don't know any of them, although I'd love to meet SexyBeerBongs, whoever she is.
