my twinions never seem to care much about what I write, I usually get 10 or 15 hits every tweet, I have about 1k followers..
So far I'm not impressed.
A friend of mine uses twitter also, he gets much more consistant results.. maybe he'll see this and post how he does it.
He puts alot of time into it and really only follows people he thinks are interested in what he does (I just kinda follow everyone).. he also has alot more 'updates' I think thats important also-
I like to follow people in my area health and our environment. I will, however follow someone back if they seem even remotely interesting (which to me, most people are). I have made many wonderful contacts on Twitter (even found a sorority sister 10 minutes aaway from me)so I would give it a thumbs up.

I am new to Twitter. I do announce the link each time I post. How can I tell if someone jumps from Twitter to my blog? What do you use to find out this info?
-
I'm not willing to spend my time chatting on twitter so I have no expectation of getting any significant traffic flowing from twitter to my blog.
-
I can barely get any readers for the blog. Exactly why would I be adding to the number of folks who aren't listening to me by Twittering too?

Many bloggers claim that they receive a lot of traffic from twitter. As I said above in my first comment I have not experienced this, however, I have spent very little time on twitter so I'm not surprised.

I haven't used it to tweet my content that much, I just also recently started to use it though. I have a small following so far, of which I don't know how many are autotweet type followers.
You'll need a pretty big following, or have connections with some power tweeters to really bring the traffic in I think. The same power tweeters usually are power diggers/stumblers/tumblers/del.ic.ious users and have other friends in that category.
Just think of it this way, for every 100 followers 1 person will probably click on your link. If the content was interesting enough they may retweet/stumble/digg your post. Which snowballs into something else. -

I have observed the same thing. I witness the same "power people" on twitter as I do on other social networks. Remarkably, some do not blog very regularly at all but they are Digging, stumbling and mixxing and re-tweeting like crazy day in and day out.

Well said. IMO in order to be successful in drawing traffic from twitter to your blog you have to be prepared to build a large following so your broadcast range is increased by the size of the following that each of your followers has. -
It's not that effective as driving traffic to my blog. But it is cool in keeping up with other bloggers in my niche.

I'm monitoring my traffic daily and twitter is definitely contributing now. I'm also a memeber at Caribtweet.com, its related to my content. And I'm getting plenty traffic from them too.

I love twitter, it fun cause I get a lot of links to cool information and cool sites. I also share a lot of information with other people and always post about my blog updates.

I didn't think much of twitter to begin with, but it's grown on me. My following is growing (but not all that significant yet), and I have received some traffic from it so far. You can't just make it all about your site and your links though. You get from it what you put into it.
I look for people who might have an interest in my blog material, but I also look for people whose content I might have an interest in, too. Then I let them know if I've checked it out.
I've had some good conversations, found some great sites and made a few friends. All-in-all, I think it's a great tool. -
The day after I denounced Twitter as a useless tool for small businesses, I had a direct message from a new client eager to do business with me. So I guess I am forced to eat, er--Tweet--my own words!

I just joined and am still learning about it. But it will either work or drive me crazy. Well, see....

A mixed bag for me at the moment, you definitely have to have followers in the thousands and spend at least an hour a day tweeting & re tweeting. It must also come down to where your links are leading to, if there just spammy all the time then you won't get very far, but make them interesting and valuable then you get the plaudits when they get RT.

The thing about tweeting is it is so simply anybody can do it: Check this out twitter.com/FredSr2

I use twitter, not sure if people actually click on my links to my post. I try and come up with creative titles to suck em in
I figure, perhaps people do visit me and I'd like to think so which keeps me motivated to continue using twitter. However I click on other people's tweets and links. It's a reciprocal thing I think. -
Liked it a lot, just that I'm too lazy to update both my twitter and blog, so I used twitter feeds to update it..

I have fun with twitter. I recently had to drop some tweets I was following because the tweeter was just too chatty. Too many tweets.

Mass following everyone doesn't bring you fellow readers. At all. I am not going to explain this as there are loads of pretty articles about on internet, however this is the reason why some have millions followers and little clicks.
So far, Twitter is just a game and amazing tool to me. I don't drive traffic through my website with it, even if my links get clicked. I don't have a thousand of followers, however the ones that follow me actually do care about what I do (except spambots of course). That's it
