I've seen some that look like the ad pages in a newspaper. No blog posts to be found. Guess they sold ad space and maybe are one of the advertisers themselves.

I own a small business. So my blog is about the unique game I sell. So.... It is and isn't an ad. I don't use adsense or lease space though.

Well, I had google ads up there for a while, but they would be driven by whatever my subject was, and so they ended up being for all kinds of wacky things, like enema bags or fly swatters. I guess it says something about the subjects I choose to write about.
It was funny for a while, but then I got sick of it. So it's gone now. -
No ads, but my wine blog is an ad of sorts for my inn. The way you keep from turning people away from a business blog is to actually offer some useful information and services. I blog about Colorado wine, champion all the local wineries, restaurants, wine trends, small town news, wine and your health, etc. Digging up helpful chunks of information is building a decent little following. My goal is to start reviewing Colorado wines on a weekly basis, but I want to take a few classes first.

While my blog is not cluttered with sponsors or ads... the whole idea is that the site serves as an advertisement for wineries offering to donate wine as press samples.
Postings and reviews are written to publicize wineries while also providing informative content for my readers.
