I'm getting a cold and that got me thinking about all the funny old wives tales that people still believe in. So what do you do to get better when you're sick? What about your children?

Yep, rest and liquids is the only thing you can do. Lots of TV for the little ones

Chicken soup with lots of onions, green tea, and plenty of rest work wonders for me.

I'm into aromatherapy, homemade broth and lots of decaffeinated green tea for colds, flu and sinusitis.

Autumn is here and winter suggests the cold and flu season is on it’s way. It’s easy to grab the over the counter medications that clear the sinus passages, but many people prefer not to use these or any other pharmaceutical drug if there are effective natural alternatives. Steam inhalation with essential oils works wonders for colds and sinus headaches and is a better solution to naturally clearing congested sinuses. In case your interested in trying aromatherapy I have blogged my remedies here: thistimethisspace.com/2007/10/05/aromatherapy-for-colds-flu-and-sinusitis/

I haven't been sick since 2001, when I moved from Europe to the USA and without any immunity built up to local bugs, went through a round of everything that was going around.

Before that the time I was sick was when I moved to Europe in 1993. I can't even remember the time before that.

I read today on a medical student's blog that a mixture of honey, fresh lemon and hot water is excellent for a cold.
