Jadeflower asks if racing is a sport

Since I blog about sports, I think this is a great question. I will be submitting an article about this question, using the replies that I receive on this discussion.
Please give your reason on why you think racing is or is not a sport. All racing types apply...NASCAR, Cart, Indy, Formula 1, motorcycle.

So ou're only talking about motor racing? I don't think it is a sport. Sport to me implies some kind of physical exertion, and whilst motor racing can be physically demanding I don't think its in the same league as running, gymnastics, swimming etc. I also hate the fact that golf is considered a sport. To my way of thinking motor racing and golf are games, all that is required is skill, whereas real sports require both fitness and skill. -
