The latest crime against logic is the idea that "Joe Biden is going to have to watch his words when he debates Sarah Palin." See me rip this idea into shreds here: www.kobrascorner.com/opine/biden-palin-debate.php

Now, most people who start these topics usually follow-up with a stupid question that distracts people from the matter at hand. I'm still going to do that, but with a catch.

Should Biden give in to the "weaker sex" mentality? If yes, I'd like to see a detailed and logical argument. If no, a detailed and logical argument would still be nice.

What do I mean by "detailed and logical?" No warrants. Any statistics or "common sense" must be reinforced by facts or logic.

Oh, and I refuse to call it "reverse sexism" like some other people because I recognize that sexism, like racism, is an omni-directional thing.

    My answer:

No. Women are supposed to be equal. Why should Biden patronize Palin or soften up his rhetorical punches just because she doesn't have dangly parts?

It could go either way for him, the Obama Biden ticket does appeal to younger voters who are less "politically correct". However, he also has to appeal to the minority voters including women.

Damn! I vowed that I would never get involved in these political discussion.

I think Biden is going to try to maintain a level of civility. That's expected. But he shouldn't have to go out of his way because Palin's a woman.

[Damn! I vowed that I would never get involved in these political discussion.]
Well, it's based on political news, but the focus is whether or not Biden should bend to this "be nicer to women just because they're women" attitude.
    4. ekim941
Yes but is he going to call her "Sarah", like Obama called Senator McCain "John"?
    5. ekim941
Pfft, this is still a political discussion. These things tend to go bad, very bad.
    6. voodooKobra
Yeah, I probably should've started it in the political board. Argh! Curse my inattentiveness!
    7. ekim941
Yeah, why don't they have "Drag and drop" on the important stuff?

    Feature request: Move thread.

Not for us, but for moderators.

Actually, I think you may be good under shameless blog promotions. Otherwise, you may get accused of spamming the political discussions.
    2. voodooKobra
Wouldn't spamming the political discussions be analogous to trying to burn fire?
  3. MeaCulpa
of course watch his words. He is so smart and inteligent, he is gonna dig Palin a hole and bury her. The Republicans are actually worried about her performance
    1. voodooKobra
I must not have communicated my point well: Should he be NICER because Sarah Palin is a woman? Watching your words, to an extent, kinda goes without saying.
    2. ekim941
Well, don't beat around the bush, tell us what you think
    3. voodooKobra
Yeah! Why beat around the Bush when you can just bash him like every other red-blooded American?
  4. MeaCulpa
he should not. I am a woman and that means NOTHING when I'm competing for the same job as a man. Equality, right? We fought for it, we got it! No more whining women!

I can get crucified for this...lol

I say, let us see what they are both made of.

lol...really I do get fired up about issues like that. She is not a match to his inteligence. That does not mean that all women are stupid. Only this one...lol....if it was a physical job, maybe I would think twice about treating the same thing..

But, on the other hand, women that work in jails do the same job as the males and they do work in jails with male prisoners....now how about that?

    :-D

What happened to the political board? Get lonely over there or what?

I still think Political Discussion should be one of the choices when we start a thread.

Someone report my comment so Admin will read this, lol.
  7. Arcticulates
@ MeaCulpa... I agree with you! About the Senator Biden shouldn't hold back.
Tho I don't see why you feel you will be crucified for your opinion???

    @VoodooKobra:
Neither person should "pull any punches"

This is the first I have heard that he needs to be careful cuz she's a woman ... What garbage!

Governor Palin is a big girl... she can take it.. I'm hoping she doesn't hold back either!
    1. voodooKobra
It's all over CNN (Circlejerk News Network).
    2. DrowseyMonkey
We can scoff all we want but just like advertising, a lot of research and psychological thought-process goes into all of this stuff.
    3. voodooKobra
Translation: Psychological warfare and media-based manipulation? Hold that thought; Big Brother's on the phone.
    4. ekim941
      @Drowsey No?!?!
  8. MeaCulpa
well, there is a lot of feminist activists out there...sometimes I dont even know what they stand for. It gets confusing at these times that we live in
    1. voodooKobra
NOW (National Organization for Women) supports Obama. That's all I know about them.

I agree with a lot of the "old-school" feminists. Namely, equal pay for equal work and voting rights. Their other gripes usually go right in one ear and out the other.
  9. voodooKobra
Well, whether or not Biden gave into the "watch your words" BS, I think Biden did a commendable job with this debate.
  10. josephgelb
