One of my favorite Johnny Cash songs is "One Piece at a Time," the story of how an auto worker built a Cadillac by (quite illegally) carrying it out of the factory, one piece at a time, over about 20 years.

A new post ( apatheticlemming.blogspot.com/2009/01/johnny-cashs-one-piece-at-time-illega... ) has links to two versions of the lyrics, a little about what is supposed to have inspired the song, and a Cadillac with one tail fin and three doors.

Now, so I can call this a 'discussion topic,' Who's heard of this song? And, if you have, how do you like it?

Used to sing it all the time when my dad would tune into that 50000 watt clear channel WSN AM Radio Nashville, TN Grand Ole Opry.

Ah, for those days? I'm 'way out of range, here in Minnesota.

Yeah, I have it on a Johnny Cash CD. It's no "Folsom Prison" or "I Still Miss Someone," but I don't skip over it.

I see what you mean. Personal taste, I suppose: I tend to like quirky songs.

You should check out Jerry Reed's 'Lord Mr. Ford' It's an old one that's good too about the cost of having one of these fandangled contraptions called cars.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qEG9EnHnw0 Nice. "You'll know it's me when I come through your town." I'd say that was an understatement.

    Wait! The Lego version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej3u0_Xj3aM
