Clearly, there are 10 preteen children in the Jon and Kate Gosselin household, because the adults seem a couple of diapers short of a laundry load.

With the world's tabloids salivating over every detail of her husband Jon's alleged affair with a 23-year-old teacher, Kate Gosselin now finds herself in the adultery spotlight, with allegations she has become more than a little too close to her bodyguard.

According to US Weekly, many people have been noticing the affection that clearly exists between Kate and her bodyguard, to the point where Jon threatened to hire a private detective to get to the truth of the matter.

Kate Gosselin, the reality-TV mom who jumped to fame when she had six children through an intrauterine insemination procedure (even as her husband made it clear he didn't want any more kids after the couple's first set of twins), has taken the high road over the last few weeks, decrying the media for "manufacturing" dirt on the family, and blaming her husband for the mess caused by his "irresponsible" ways.

But now people are coming forth with allegations about Kate herself.

An employee at a venue where the couple recently appeared was quoted in US as saying the pair were "very physical, often touching each other."

"She was gently poking him, giving him little love pats, totally unlike the slapping she does with Jon. She and Steve were joking around so much, I actually wondered if they were having an affair. There's a lot of open affection between them."

The same source reportedly told the magazine Gosselin showed no such affection for her husband.

The bodyguard, Steve Neild, has reportedly travelled across the country with Kate Gosselin to more than 50 similar appearances, usually leaving Jon at home to look after the kids.

Jon Gosselin's oft-denied but frequently photographed dalliance with a 23-year-old teacher has been well documented. Jon even started hitting college bars, hitting on students, and ending up at a frat house, playing beer pong while the 'tups slept at home.

Then came Deanna Hummel, and reporters smelled blood.

Though Gosselin has denied he's engaged in an affair, Hummel's brother complained publicly that the two would get physical, "like teenagers," at his home, engaging in loud sex. A sex video featuring Hummel and an unknown male also surfaced as an ex-boyfriend allegedly tried to cash in, and other videos of Jon leaving her house in the early hours also appeared on YouTube.

Now people are flooding media outlets, claiming to have seen the couple in other places; most recently, Spring Gruv in Utah, Paolo's Restaurant and Bar in Reading, Pa., eating at a Ruby Tuesday's, and watching the band Dirty Penny.

A neighbour reportedly says Jon Gosselin has been living in a room above the family garage for some time, alleging the pair continues to pretend they're happily married for the sake of the money the show brings in.

And now, even that might be in doubt: Kate Gosselin tells a reporter for People Magazine this month, "I don't know that we're in the same place anymore, that we want the same thing. . . . I've been struggling with the question of 'Who is this person?' for a while."

She admits talk of her husband's dalliances has had an effect on how she sees him.

"I remember where I was the first time I heard (Hummel's) name," Kate says. "It's one of those things where you can try to make it go away, but there's blaring, red flashing lights."

TLC, the network that shows the Gosselin series Jon and Kate Plus 8, refused comment.
