Julius Malema(27) is the youth leader of the ANC. He caused a public outrage when he claimed that he is willing to kill anti-revolutionary forces to ensure that Jacob Zuma becomes South Africa's next president. Jacob Zuma has been found guilty of a bi-lateral crime for which his former financial adviser is already serving prison time. Jacob Zuma faced several charges of fraud and racketeering.

Imagine my surprise when I went to Wikipedia to query Malema's age and found this little gem...

Yes, the Wikipedia page was really edited. Everything on the Wikipedia page is true (as far as I could verify it by following the links), except for the parts which have been removed.

To see the censored parts, view my blog for a screenshot.

And, this is posted under general discussion. It's not meant to be news.

Vandalism of this kind is quite common on Wikipedia. Although obscene, this example was at least absurd and so did not spread misinformation.

You can click the history page to follow these edits, though presumably the vandal was anonymous. Still, if you want to view the article in its vandalized form, you still can.

You can also edit articles. To say that "Wikipedia fixed it" makes no sense, since Wikipedia's users edit Wikipedia. That can include you.

Great news! Thanks. I took a screenshot though, so I have it immortalised.

As far as I know, Wikipedia can only be edited by registered users. Edits are usually well, edited by a board and suggestions are made on forums before they are implemented on the live site. What I meant by Wikipedia fixed it is that the board made a recommendation for someone to take the vandalised bits off and someone did.
