It's been a while since this happened.

My email account is full of failed attempts to send mail to a non-existent address on my domain

Why I'm getting the failure notices, considering that the things seem to have an Italian origin, I don't know. I suspect that someone managed to convince a mail server that my domain was sending the things, somewhere along the line.

Anyone with expertise have an informed opinion? Thanks.

Here's the start of one of the things:

"Subject:

yep, someone spoofed your addy and emailed a list. i had a slew of those a couple of weeks ago. quite frustrating to get bounce messages from emails you never sent. *sigh*

It's rather simple to spoof a FROM address and not much you can do about it:
    ask-leo.com/someones_sending_from_my_email_address_how_do_i_stop_them.html

    This site may help: www.spamcop.net/

This is much more serious than I was expecting this thread to be. I thought when you said you'd been spoofed you were going to tell us someone had created a blog called:

"Disinterested Sheep of the South" or something.
