Have just purchased a simple JVC camcorder to use at work (GZ MG-130). We're running Adobe Premiere and what I'm starting to find out is that they hate each other.

There are a number of workarounds on the web, none seem to work. The JVC uses a .MOD format

Does anyone use a JVC camcorder and managed to use it with Adobe Premiere.

I have a mad workaround but it's silly, I can rename the video file to a .m2v file and pull it into Premiere, but it doesn't bring the audio in and I can rename the file to .mpg and bring it into Flash and then export it back out as another format(i said mad workaround). This is clunky, because I then have to bring the audio file into Premiere.

Any good suggestions?

Any sensible workarounds that you have tried and works

      so that means no :-)

I'm trying to bring the files recorded on the cam into Premiere so I can edit the footage. I get an error..and so does everyone else by the sound of it.

      Isnt there a patch available

no, it's more of a workaround issue.

Their cheaper software 'Elements' handles the files by the look of it but their better ones don't, it's a bit crazy.

I might have to use the proprietry software from JVC and then export it. There's a few third part things around but there seems to be a lot of frigging around to do. I want a 'do once fix many solution'.

It's such a waste of time, in fact it's pretty outrageous that JVC and Adobe and JVC and Final Cut Pro don't sit down and talk to each other.

Thanks, haven't tried that one yet but it looks a bit like a few others that I found. Some of them say 'unstall this, uninstall that, install such and such'. I'll give it a go and then have to work out a solution for a number of other computers.

      appreciated as always

      Woops...yeah tried that one

lol, everyone says to go for elements. Perhaps you should have checked the camera out first.

Well oddly enough this has worked in my favour.

I installed the JVC software, read their manual, converted it to avi file 130MB. Opened Flash, imported it, saved as .fla (flash format) exported as shockwave .swf, now have a 2MB file for the web.

It's not the solution I wanted but I now have a system to create better web video/audio blog files at ridiculously small file sizes.

The avi I can import to Premiere, so I have solved two problems in one go. Very cool. Thanks for your help, I'll now see what these other guys say.

      thanks
