Keyword Research, Who does yours...? Do you pay or DIY..?

One the most difficult things when creating a new blog, can be finding the right keyword. There are many options available, some cost $$$ some are FREE !
What do you find is the best option ..?

While I do have access to some of the paid tools you mentioned, I don't necessarily use all of them for my blog. A the blog I typically write are more out of interest and what i come across in a day.
That way you might blog more freely.

The google guys do mine. I have them over for beer every now and then and they just go to work.

You can use different tools such as Google Adwords Keyword tool to check if your keywords rank or to know how many are searching for it.

There are many free keyword selection tools online. I do not have single keywords for my blogs. There are several keywords and keyword phrases that are appropriate for my blogs, and I have no intention of ever purchasing keywords.

What I do is research and write first and then I think about keywords after I have a first draft. I'm not into keyword stuffing. If keywords and keyword phrases fit into the natural flow of the text I use them. If not, I don't.

Have you tried doing a Google, Bing and/or Yahoo search search to locate free keyword selection tools?
